Brief Bio
Both Carlo and Elma came to know Jesus Christ as Savior through the ministry of International Grace Bible Institute in the Philippines.
After completing Bible Institute, the Pañas ministered in local churches and at the IGBI-Davao campus. For ten years they were involved in the Cebu City Grace Gospel Church where Carlo was a board member, preacher and teacher. Elma served as a leader of the women ministries and a teacher. They served as house parents at the Children’s Shelter of Cebu, a ministry that finds adoptive homes for orphaned and abandoned children.
The Pañas arrived in Embu, Kenya in January 2000 where they taught in Grace Bible School and trained local church leaders. Elma headed up the national women’s organization. In 2002 they moved to Thika where Carlo was responsible for the Bible school. They oversaw graduations in 2002 and 2003. At the same time, they were actively planting an urban church in Thika Town.
In 2003, the Pañas made a deputation trip to the U.S. where they enrolled Charael in Grace Bible College. Thereafter the Pañas sensed God calling them to a new ministry in Uganda, the “pearl of east Africa!”

Beginning the TCM Ministry in Uganda
In March 2004 we surveyed Uganda together with TCM director Ben Anderson. We prayed, surveyed the capital city, marked the common and bizarre places, mapped the city and viewed the impressive and unimpressive scenery that reached our eyes. We cried to the Lord and prayed, “Lord you brought us here in Uganda. Start your work within us so that we can plant a church and churches in different places in this country.” We rented a house during a second survey in August 2004 before transferring to Uganda on October 24, 2004 with all our belongings.

The Recent Ministries of the Pañas
- Home Bible studies with Ugandans and Filipino contract workers.
- Evangelism.
- Tract distribution.
- Film showings.
- Orphan visitation, feeding and gift distribution.
- Teaching the Word of God and cooking vegetables for the elderly.
- Sunday school for children, young people and adults.
- Prayer meetings.
- Worship services.
- Counseling.
- Church planting: our goal is 2020: twenty churches in twenty different places in the year 2020.
- Sunday school teacher training.
- Seminars in churches that invite us.
God uses us in different ministries. We are open to God’s heart that He will open more ministries to us so that He can utilize our potential that He has stored within us for His glory and honor.
