TCM is excited to welcome Joel and Leah Sanders as new missionary candidates. The Sanders originally hail from Georgia, where Leah’s parents participated in Bible studies led by Pat & Michelle Kilgo. Joel and Leah spent the past several years working at a boys’ ranch in Florida. They believe God is calling them to the mission field, and will spend this year preparing for overseas ministry by taking courses from Berean Bible Institute and serving an internship with Grace Church, Indianapolis. Joel and Leah, along with their children, Enoch and Naomi, are living in the TCM missionary apartment, hearing lots of stories from veteran TCM missionaries while helping out in the office. Joel also has a part-time restaurant job so he’s a busy man! Pray the Sanders will feel at home in this community and the Lord will continue to mold their hearts and minds in response to His call on their lives. Click on the picture for a larger view.
Kenya Coast director Pastor Peter Kagwi reports: My trip from Thika to Voi was safe. I thank the Lord for Pastor Patrick Kilei and his family for their humble beginning. The initial stage of church planting has started. Voi Grace Church is located in a very strategic location. Due to the new Standard Gauge Railway from Nairobi to Mombasa, the area is developing every day. Many people are moving there, and we have an open door to reach them with the gospel of the grace of God. On Sunday I shared the Word of God with this group that is so excited with the message of Grace preached and taught daily by Pastor Kilei. After the worship service, Pastor Jacob Doto from Bura GBC in Taita Taveta joined us for the leadership meeting for Voi Grace Team. The planning meeting had the following agenda: Training, Teamwork, Goals, & Challenges. We had good fellowship as well as praying for the new work in this region. I am back in Mombasa. I have joined my wife after leaving her for about one week.
On Sunday afternoon after the worship service at Grace Berean Church-Boksburg in South Africa, the Women-of-Grace group along with the Padayhags and some youth from the church drove to Kempton Park to minister in an orphanage for teens. In addition to bags of donated clothing, they brought these orphan teens a very special message. It was such a victorious day because 13 teenagers were saved by God's amazing Grace! Pray for follow-up with these new believers to ground them in the truth of God’s Word.
After spending the past three months traveling around the eastern USA, visiting churches and contacts and sharing about their ministry in South Brazil, Gomer and Nene Indino flew back to Brazil yesterday. Pray they will fit smoothly back into their church planting and training ministries in Brazil. They will be helping the national leaders plan the national conference for this coming October. They will also endeavor to sell some property TCM owns that has been held up in legal proceedings for many years. Pray for the Indinos as they seek the Lord about handing over their work to the nationals and transferring to a new Portuguese-speaking country.
Martial law has been declared on the large southern island of Mindanao in an effort to contain an armed Maute terrorist group that aligns itself with ISIS. This week they attacked Marawi City in the north central region of Mindanao, setting schools, a church, a city jail and hospital on fire. Government armed forces stationed in the area have been on the defense, so up until now firing is happening between the two groups. Reports have been posted that Maute-captured buildings or grounds have ISIS flags hoisted on them. People have remained indoors, and power and communication lines have been shut down. Please pray peace to be restored and protection over believers and TCM churches in the area.
Robby and Tegwen Heath were accepted as long-term TCM missionary candidates at the recent TCM Board meeting in Indianapolis. The following Sunday Robby shared at Grace Church, Indianapolis how the suffering that he and Tegwen experienced in the death of their son, Rowen, has taught him the importance of focusing on the eternal, not the temporal. He referenced 2 Cor. 4:16-18 and said this is what motivates him to be involved in full-time missionary work: “Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” Robby and Tegwen, with son Vernon, will spend the summer in Oregon with family before starting deputation in the fall.
TCM-Kenya director, Titus K. Kivilu writes: We praise God for fruitful ministries over the weekend in South Nyanza, Western Kenya. It was great blessing for my wife and I to have seminars with the church leaders in Godmirin, Pundo and Sori as well as fellowship and sharing the Word of God with believers in the 3 churches. South Nyanza region has a plan to open a new Grace church in Manguga Market, a strategic market in that area. We pray for God's favor as these brethren preach the gospel in Manguga Market that many people will come to see the light of the gospel and turn to Christ as their personal Savior. On Saturday we launched a Grace Pastoral Training Centre at Sori to train and equip more pastors in that region for the service of the Lord and furtherance of the gospel. It was also impressive to see the new building the believers of Sori GBC has built for the worship and preaching of the word of God. Glory to His name!
MYANMAR GRACE THEOLOGICAL SCHOOL (MGTS) will open in June 2017. Training is essential for sustaining the Grace message and supplying laborers in the work of the Lord. Team Myanmar visited some of the Grace Gospel Churches to encourage the believers and challenge them to prepare their young people for the Bible school. Recently, TCM Team-Myanmar missionary, Dan Banac, was privileged to conduct a series of Bible studies in Watkaw, Mindone, Magway division. A 3-year-old Grace church there is hungry for the Grace message and susceptible to false teachings. Let us pray for the opening of our Bible school and churches that partner with MGTS. Thank you very much! We really appreciate it!
TCM-Brazil North missionary, Joe Campos organized a meeting of leaders in their fellowship of churches. He enthusiastically wrote: Our pastors reported tremendous things that God is doing in our midst. By the grace of God all of our churches are growing both numerically and spiritually. New plans were made for the continued growth of our ministry here. New literature projects are underway. Modules for our Bible Institute are scheduled. Many evangelistically meetings are planned. Please, join us in prayer for these efforts!
TCM IMPACT 2017 church growth program covered a five-year period (April 2012-March 2017). The goal: to plant 115 new churches in the Philippines. After five years, the Lord has blessed the program with 99 new churches planted! Annual reports of “TCM IMPACT” had been encouraging since the inception of the program. The following new churches were planted in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao: 20 in 2013; 23 in 2014; 14 in 2015; 27 in 2016; and, 17 in 2017, or a total of 99 new churches planted over the span of five years! This means “TCM IMPACT” is only short of 16 from the target (115--99=16). We are extending one more year (April 2017-March 2018) this church growth program to give it a chance of reaching the target of 115 churches planted before we celebrate our 60th TCM Founding Anniversary & Thanksgiving Celebration in 2018.
TCM-Cambodia missionary, Ariel Mahilum writes: Will appreciate your prayers for the opening of Cheutil Grace Center tomorrow. 37 students will share this place in three different sessions and levels for English Conversation, Intro to computer, Practical Music and Bible study from Tuesday to Saturday. My wife Faith and I are the teachers. May the Lord grant us a harvest for His glory!
Pastor Peter Kagwi, director of TCM-Kenya’s Coast work, reports: “This morning my heart is broken with news that the wall of our church/ministry center in Mombasa has collapsed.” Despite strong reinforcement when the wall was rebuilt after being destroyed in a previous mudslide, the wall collapsed when a neighbor’s heavy concrete construction materials shifted due to flooding and crashed into the ministry center wall. Click on the picture to see a larger image.
Pastor Peter continues, “Friends we ask for your prayers at this time. We have been raising funds in preparation to put cement on the floor but now this challenging tragedy has happened. Pray for God's intervention as we plan the next step for us to continue using the building. I have suspended the Bible school training temporarily because everything is in a mess. A number of chairs and tables got destroyed and covered by the heap of debris inside. Give thanks to the Lord that during the incident no one inside the building.” For information about this project, click here. To give a donation, click on Donate in the right sidebar menu. TCM Team Myanmar missionary, Dan Banac writes: We thank God for granting my family the 70 days business visa for us to return to our country Myanmar to resume our language study! Likewise, we are preparing for the opening of "MYANMAR GRACE THEOLOGICAL SCHOOL" this 1st week of June 2017. We recently created a School Board to run this new Bible School with new set of officers, new curriculum, and new faculty members. Please help us pray about this new challenge in this country where the language barrier is our prime concern. Thank you very much for all your support! May the name of Jesus Christ be exalted in Myanmar through the revelation of the Mystery! (Click on the picture for a larger image of Team Myanmar planning with Pastor Kenneth Ling.)
Pastor Carlos Adrales, a veteran minister with TCM-Philippines serving Ilocanos in Laoag Province, northern Philippines, set out on March 23 for one of his regular Bible studies with eager employees of the Rusi Motorcycle Company. He was riding a “tricycle” (motorbike with side-car pictured left, a common mode of public transportation), when a Jeep bumped his sidecar causing Carlos to strike the pavement. His left hand was smashed and the flesh torn apart. No x-ray was available at the first hospital. The doctor at the second hospital struggled to close the flesh but the bones were so badly broken that Carlos' ring finger was amputated. He was discharged from the hospital after two days but the pain remains. Carlos’ wife, Milagros writes, "It is a real joy for him to be able to continually share the message of God's Grace with employees who testify they are now assured of their salvation." Pray for Pastor Carlos' recovery.
TCM-Philippines is celebrating its 59th National Conference this week! The conference is taking place in Legazpi in full view of beautiful Mayon Volcano, the world’s most perfect volcanic cone. The keynote guest speaker is former TCM missionary to the Philippines, John Shriver. Ben Anderson and Ariel Mahilum are also featured speakers on the theme "Mobilizing the Local Church for Action." All the missionary trainees enrolled in this year’s Grace Theological Center for Mission are present. Pray this will be an inspirational time for all who attend. Click on the image for a larger view.
A memorial service for Rowen Heath was held at International Grace Bible Institute in Tagum City, Philippines where Rowen's family lived, worked and studied over the past year, and a mango tree was planted at the burial site in his memory. TCM short-termer, Janae Brown wrote, “I was so touched when Robby got up and spoke. The room was somber and silent as our hearts intently listened to his explanation about how we always plan, but things don't always go according to plan. In the midst of such struggle, we're not to lose focus of our goal in ministry, but to be determined and press on; ministering to lost souls in the regions beyond. I'm encouraged and motivated by this strong family that continues to press on, despite hardships and trials faced on the mission field. They give me such courage. To see how much stronger they're becoming through this situation has inspired my life as a missionary as well. James and Agape Bermejo offered a song to the Lord titled, ‘Press On.’ The Lord knew how much we needed to hear that song.”
TCM Cambodia missionary, Julia Liles sent this update: Currently Sophal is doing well, all things considered! She has taken time to rest in the village with her parents who are also taking care of baby Reik at this time. Sophal must now undergo 6 more chemo sessions with a new, stronger medication. The last batch of 6 has not reduced the tumor to the doctors satisfaction, so they cannot operate to remove it at this stage. Sophal has mentioned lack of energy but it's amazing to see how she continues to praise God and trust in Him for her future. At our recent National Conference, Sophal was one of the church members who stepped forward to commit her life for service to God- whatever the cost! She was tearful but smiling, as were we. Thank you for your loving support and interest in Sophal's life-it means a lot.
TCM-Kenya Director, Titus Kivilu writes, “We had a great time over the weekend held here in Thika leading the workshop for training pastors to be trainers. We praise God for the 15 trainers who were able to attend this very important workshop. Of most importance is that all of the 5 regions where we have GBC churches were represented. Pastor Peter Kagwi and I facilitated the workshop and we were so grateful for such an opportunity to share our expertise, experiences and inspiration with these pastor trainers. We are so grateful that now we have a sufficient workforce for the training ministry in Grace Bible Churches which will enable us to expand this ministry to more places. We remain focused on training more pastors and church leaders for the service of the Lord. Glory to His name!”
On Saturday, April 8, Rowen’s mom, Tegwen Heath announced, “To all our precious family, friends and prayer warriors, it is with incredible emotion that we inform you that Rowen passed away this morning. Robby and I were holding his hands and singing ‘my chains are gone’ as his spirit went to be with the Lord. We are heartbroken but are so grateful to God for making a way for Rowen to be whole again. ‘But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.’ 2 Cor. 15:57”
The Litex Grace Gospel Church in Manila hosted a memorial service for Rowen, Sunday night, April 9. Tegwen commented, “We're sure Rowen is celebrating in heaven, but our grief is no less intense. [The memorial service] was a difficult thing for a parent to attend but it was such a comfort to reflect on the impact Rowen's short life had on so many people. He brought people closer to God and to each other. He brought honor and glory to the name of the Lord. He reminded me that all people are precious in His sight and that we should be just as fervent in prayer for the salvation of every soul.”
Thank you for praying for Rowen. We believe the Lord, in His great wisdom and compassion, answered those prayers by mercifully delivering Rowen from a long road of further suffering. Please uphold his precious family, Robby, Tegwen & Vernon Heath, as they mourn this separation from him, return to Tagum to pack up and say their good-byes, and make decisions about their future. Condolence cards and gifts can be sent to the Heaths through TCM here.
Rowen Heath, infant son of TCM missionaries, Robby and Tegwen Heath, remains in critical condition at the Philippine Heart Center in Manila. Rowen underwent open heart surgery on March 16, but the surgeon has not been able to close his chest due to swelling that would put too much pressure on his heart. Rowen has now developed pneumonia making the prognosis even more grim. However, we believe in a life-giving Almighty God whose arm is not too short to save, so we continue to pray for a miracle while trusting Rowen completely into His hands. Pray the God of Peace will envelop Rowen’s family in this extremely stressful time of Rowen’s life hanging in the balance.
Rowen's hospital bills, though much cheaper in the Philippines than they would be in the US, are not covered by insurance and are mounting every day. Praise God for family and friends who have already contributed several thousand dollars to help defray these costs! Others who would like to donate may do so here and receive a tax-deductible receipt. (Note that credit card donations are charged a 2% fee by the electronic server, so checks are preferred whenever possible.)
Hannah Wangari, a student at TCM's Bible school in Kenya was hit by a motorcycle last October and severely fractured both legs. She has been hospitalized ever since. TCM-Kenya Director, Titus Kivilu, shared this heart-breaking update: "I was at the church where Hannah worships (Gikoe GBC) last weekend. I got news about her but it was not good. After examination of her left leg the doctor said the broken bone had died and couldn't be fixed so it had to be amputated. That has been done, and she will need an artificial leg after she heals. The right leg is continuing to heal after she had surgery to fix the bone to a rod. The church friends and relatives are organizing a fund raiser on April 15 to raise the money for the hospital bill which is estimated to be $4850. Her hospital insurance may pay about $2000. Surely she needs a lot of prayers for recovery and for the money to pay the bill." Anyone who feels led to contribute may do so here. Please designate your gift Kenya-Hannah Wangari. Thank you!
Praise the Lord for 145 students enrolled in TCM’s four International Grace Bible Institutes (IGBI) in the Philippines during the 2016-2017 school year. Of this number, 33 graduated in March: IGBI-Tagum City = 19; IGBI-Ozamiz City = 11; IGBI-Cauayan City = 2; IGBI-Bataan = 1. Prior to graduation, they served internships in the field, which means they were assigned in the churches under their senior pastors to help and experience church ministry activities. May the Lord empower these new graduates and use them mightily for His glory
!
Grace Theological Center for Mission (GTCM) is Things to Come Mission's intensive 2-month missionary training program. This year GTCM will take place on the campus of IGBI-Tagum, our Bible school in southern Philippines. The trainees hail from Indonesia, Philippines and USA. Orienation and opening ceremonies take place this coming Sunday, April 2. TCM International Director, Ben Anderson, will commence training with a week of instruction on the Theology of Mission. Pray the Lord will speak to the hearts of the trainees through these courses. Pray for stamina for all through April and May as the schedule is rigorous.
Team Myanmar's Dan Banac writes, "Great day! We believe that the National leaders and Team Myanmar are both happy for the fruitful results of our first leadership meeting represented by the six local pastors and some of the newly graduated pastors. It is the Holy Spirit who works behind us all. We praise God for this declaration of clear partnership between TCM and the Nationals. Ministry is not sponsorship but rather a partnership. (Philippians 1:5)
TCM-Kenya leaders, Titus Kivilu and Peter Kagwi made the long road trip to Uganda once again to provide pastoral training for TCM-Uganda church members. Pastor Titus writes: We thank God for safe journey for Pastor Peter and myself from Kampala, Uganda back to Nairobi. We had a great time and opportunity to train in Uganda Grace Pastoral Training (UGPT) and to minister to the brethren in Uganda Grace Gospel Church of Christ. We praise God for the UGPT students who are very brilliant and noble Bible students who are searching Scriptures daily like the Bereans (Acts 17:11). We were encouraged by their testimonies that the Holy Spirit is enlightening them with great truths from the Bible and they are ready to convey it to others. On Sunday I ministered at UGGCC in Luzira Kampala and Pastor Peter and Elder Livingstone went to minister to a new Grace fellowship in Nabasumba which has over 25 people who are meeting every Sunday to worship God and to learn the Grace message. We greatly appreciate all your prayers.
Grace Berean Bible School (GBBS) in South Africa is expanding! In addition to the main Boksburg campus, two satellite schools have been opened in Tshepisong and Shoshanguve. TCM missionaries Dean Padayhag and Paul Craesmeyer are actively involved in teaching the courses alongside national leaders. Their wives work hard preparing the Bible school materials and doing the registration paperwork. Dean writes, “It’s so rewarding to see students learning the truth and growing in their relationship with the Lord.”
Rowen Heath, brand new son of TCM short-term missionaries to the Philippines Robby and Tegwen Heath, and grandson of Ben and Joyce Anderson, was born last week with a congenital heart defect: Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. This tiny infant was airlifted from Davao to Manila last Sunday and will undergo open heart surgery on Thursday afternoon, March 16 (Philippine time is 12 hours later than USA Eastern Time). They have the best surgeon in the country, but this remains a very high risk operation with a high mortality rate. If successful, two more surgeries will be required over the next couple years. Pray our Almighty God will do a miracle of restoration for Rowen. Pray for His abiding peace to be with the Heath and Anderson families throughout this ordeal. May God be glorified!
TCM Team Cambodia missionary Ariel Mahilum sent this update about Sophal who is undergoing chemotherapy for rectal cancer. “I just came back from visiting Sister Sophal at the hospital after receiving a message that she threw up many times in her 6th chemo session. This did not happen in her previous chemo sessions. I prayed for her and her husband Pastor Chrrorn. At the end of this month Sophal needs to undergo a rectal operation followed by another 6 chemotherapy treatments. We trust in the Lord in all times and believe that everything has purpose for His glory and honor. All praise goes to Him alone and thanksgiving to those who prayed and gave.” Continue praying for full healing for Sophal. Thank you to all who gave so generously toward her medical treatment! We have reached and exceeded our fund-raising goal for her.
TCM-Kenya Director, Titus Kivilu shared this very moving story: Pastors Peter Kagwi, Samuel Mwangi and myself had a blessed ministry at Ndururi GBC in Nyahururu last weekend. On our way back we met Pastor Paul Kinyua in Nyeri and went together to Consolata Hospital to see sister Hannah Wangari who has been hospitalized since October last year after she had an accident where she was knocked down by a motorcycle and got very bad fractures in both legs. Hannah's faith and confidence in the Lord amazed us all. Though she is in a very difficult situation her heart was full of praise and thankfulness to God for who God is and what He has done for her. Before Hannah had the accident she was continuing with Grace Pastoral Training at TCM’s Thika centre. We were encouraged that she is sharing the word of God and the saving grace with her fellow patients in the hospital. Pray that God will heal Hannah and get her out of the hospital. Pastor William Mdluli, National Coordinator of TCM-South Africa visits Kenya to meet with TCM-Kenya national leaders, Pastors Titus Kivilu and Peter Kagwi among others, and TCM-Uganda leaders, Pastors Philip Walendo and Stephen Cwinyaai. The visit began with an evangelistic outreach in Nakuru, during which 8 people put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior. After attending the funeral of Pastor Titus’ mother, Pastor Mdluli traveled to Mombasa and met with the Coast regional pastors. His visit will culminate in a TCM Africa leaders meeting February 23-24. It's our prayer that from this meeting the objective of unity and strengthening our ministries will be the priority as we look forward to reach the unreached countries in Africa. Praise the Lord for this cooperation and partnership!
TCM Team Cambodia missionary, Julia Liles writes, " I would like to raise awareness of the need for prayer for this precious family. Assistant Pastor Chhron and wife Sophal have recently become parents to their son Riek. However, much to everybody's shock Sophal has just been diagnosed with Stage 2 Rectal Cancer. Times like these are never easy and I'm just thankful that this couple share the comfort of Christ together and have a supportive church and family back in the village too. Sophal is an incredible witness of God's faithfulness and I am inspired by her courage at this challenging time. Please would you pray with us or send messages of support to this lovely family... We are currently raising funds for the medical fees to help contribute to the high cost of Chemo treatment... If your heart is burdened to get involved please contact either myself or Things to Come Mission. Thank you for your involvement in the lives of others in faith and love." TCM missionary, Ariel Mahilum, said this of the couple when he performed their marriage ceremony: "Pastor Chhrorn Sorn found Jesus while staying in our college dormitory in the capital and committed his life to serve the Lord while studying in college in an assistant pastor capacity. Sophal is one of the pioneers of TCM Cambodia. She is a scholar of our student's assistance program and has been one of the strongest pillars of the church."
TCM Team Myanmar missionaries, Dan and Amy Banac write: “We are learning basic Burmese in a language school but we needed a tutor. We are thankful for Wan [pictured foreground with Amy behind], our Thai friend and classmate for teaching us more. We've learned a lot. She feels like part of the Banac family now. She visits our house and often eats with us. Please pray that she will come to know the Lord Jesus Christ in a very personal and intimate way. We are also thankful to God that we speak better English, for many nationalities want to learn more English through us. We consider this an advantage for sharing the Grace gospel. Thank you our senders and supporters for your share in the mission field through your earnest prayers. Blessings!”
Pastor Titus Kivilu, national director of TCM-Kenya, writes: “I thank God for the two days evangelistic and revival mission last weekend at Machakos town which was organized by Kenya Grace Bible Church (GBC) pastors from Nairobi region. Seven people prayed to receive Christ as their personal savior and a great revival to the believers was experienced. Pray for Daniel, the pastor of Machakos GBC, and his wife as they do follow-up and help these new converts to continue growing in the Lord. Glory to the name of the Lord! ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!’”
Jessie Easterly and her first husband, Herbert Palmer (pictured left at their wedding) were the founders of Things to Come Mission. Lord willing, Jessie will turn 100 years old on January 14, 2017. Her daughter reports Jessie has had a slow overall decline, but more so during the past year. Mom has stabilized following a bad spell in late August and part of September following a fall. She is up in her wheelchair for good portions of each day. Therapy helps her up to walk with the walker for a short distance on good days. Jessie doesn’t think she needs to eat and just looks at her food unless her care-takers feed her. Due to macular degeneration and decreased eyesight Jessie doesn’t read anymore. Hearing is poor, but has been decreasing for some time. She doesn’t go to her church now due to safety issues and because she was sleeping most of the time. She does, however, attend the services held at the facility where she lives. Jessie's life is a testimony of a long obedience and love for the Lord!
Team Myanmar missionary, Dan Banac, recently took a riverboat journey deep into Myanmar to visit a small group of Grace believers. He writes, "Christmas celebration is useful in Myanmar! It is a launching pad for evangelism. Through biblical passage exposition I explained to the Grace believers here how to see a balanced message about the life of Jesus Christ in a panoramic picture. For example John 3:16 "...He gave his only begotten Son..." implies Christ’s incarnation and crucifixion. Both are components of the saving plan and process of God. Without the birth of Jesus it was impossible for Him to die. And without His death there is no shed blood for our sins. They are both equally important. We are not saved by His birth but by His death. Without His birth and death there is no mission!" Read more about Dan's trip here.
The Campos and LeFeber families serving in North Brazil have launched their annual Christmas celebration outreaches as part of their Project ABBA children’s ministry program. The first event was held at the Jardim Jordao church, with the second at Ibura Grace Bible Church. Joe Campos observed, “God has been really good to us. Another great turn out. Pray that many kids will come to salvation in Christ.” With what appears to be over 100 children attending each event, please pray for thorough follow-up, particularly of those who receive Christ. For further photos and videos of the event, check TCM’s Facebook page or Joe Campos’ Facebook page. Thank you to all who have given to make this outreach possible!
TCM missionaries to Thailand, Genesis & Verna Maraat, are planning for Christmas: "Our Thai church members asked that we continue with Christmas celebrations in different places. They insist that their neighbors are demanding this in spite of the advisory from the government to avoid loud celebrations because Thailand is in mourning due the recent death of their revered king. We will not use a public address system this time, but we can still give out gifts and share the story of Jesus' birth with many Thai Buddhists. Here are the dates of our activities: December 17-18: Our church retreat in the mountains. We will have some visitors during this camp and will be sharing the message of Christ birth. December 23: Christmas celebration at Lacky's house. Expected attendance will around 60 to 70 people. December 25: Christmas celebration at our church. December 30: Celebration at Mareewan and Allen's village. Around 70 people are expected to attend. The guests who attend these celebrations are 98% non-believers. Please pray that God's word will minister to them effectively."
Robby and Tegwen Heath are active in the church on the IGBI campus in Davao, Philippines where they are teaching and studying. Robby and Pastor Abib Autida are the same age and work very well together. They organized and led a youth event, which involved all the IGBI students helping with worship, games and snacks. The event, entitled Christians in Action, was advertised at the local high school within walking distance. Nobody knew what kind of turn out to expect so everyone was incredibly excited when over 100 youth poured into the little church. The response was wonderful and the next CIA is planned for December 6. Pray for the same turnout and that youth will put their faith in Christ! Pray also for the church itself, as it struggles to stabilize Sunday attendance as well as increasing its presence in the community. The Heaths are working with the members to get a Children's Church started. This is in an effort to better meet the needs of the regular attendees as well as potential new members!
The Banac family exited Myanmar to Thailand for 3 days to renew their visas. Dan Banac wrote: All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose." After three days of waiting our gracious God granted us visas for re-entry into our field of Myanmar. We thank God for your fervent prayers for this process. To God be the glory! We rejoice with you all!” Unfortunately the visa fee was doubled, which makes it particularly expensive for a family of four. This visa is only good for 28 days. Pray the Banacs can find a long-term visa solution.
Kenya Coast pastor and regional leader, Peter Kagwi, announced, "It was a great day at Mombasa. The ministry center for the coast region was dedicated to the Lord. Thanks for all your prayers and all kind of the support. We started worshiping in our building as we trust the Lord in completing the project. Robert Ogema, a graduate of Berean Grace School of Ministry shared his testimony to Joyce Anderson on how he won two ladies to Christ." The building will be used for regular church services, regional meetings, and the home of the Coast Grace Bible School. About half of the funding needed for this project has been received. Pray the remainder needed will be given. (Click on the picture for a larger image.)
Paul Craesmeyer, newly arrived in South Africa, writes: “The coordinator of the national association of Grace churches here, Pastor William Mdluli, has already made a schedule for us to visit the different churches in the next few months. I was with him in Soshanguve this weekend, and we are connecting very well. There are 7 churches, and we've already spoken at a couple of them, and a few soon-to-be-a-church Bible studies. Meeting some of the upcoming leaders gets me excited. Please pray for us as we adapt to the country and meet the people whom we will be training. There is a meeting this weekend between several of the key leaders to talk about Vision 20/20, and how to continue to implement it. The idea is to have 20 Grace churches planted in key places by 2020.”
Mingalaba! means Hello in Burmese. On completing their first week in Myanmar, Dan Banac writes: "We just attended our first double Sunday service here, the morning and evening service. I preached to almost the same attendees in both services. It seems they are hungry for more spiritual food. We Filipinos were very happy during the morning service to sing an English song when 10,000 Reasons flashed on the screen. The worship service ended with the Burmese version of the song Still. Team Myanmar was able to meet the church leadership and clearly discuss our role as missionaries and our partnership with the nationals.” Please pray for wisdom for the Banacs as they explore how best to apply for business visas to enable them to stay in Myanmar. They see many challenges and opportunities and want to proceed in God’s best plan. Happy birthday to Mrs. Amy Banac and Salvina Ulfindo, celebrating their first birthdays in Myanmar together!
Ben and Joyce Anderson joined Kenyan leaders Titus Kivilu and Peter Kagwi to visit the Uganda Grace Gospel Church over the past two weeks. They each taught courses to students in the pastoral training program. At the end of the week 13 students completed the 3-phase program and graduated. Pray these graduates will help the Grace work in Uganda expand and grow. The guest speakers took a trip to visit a potential church plant in Fort Portal, western Uganda. Joyce led seminars for women and youth, and was thrilled when 10 young people prayed to receive Christ! Pray for thorough follow-up of these new believers.
“Hey guys, I made it to my home, Tagum, Philippines!!!” writes Janae Brown, TCM’s newest short-term missionary. “I love my little house! We got me some appliances, groceries, and even a dresser! And yes, I had pre-house warming gifts. Love this new beginning—all for the glory of God!” Janae, an active member of the Grace church in Grants Pass, Oregon, felt God calling her to missionary service. She joined TCM’s Asia Adventure this past spring to get a taste of missions in Southeast Asia. During this year in the Philippines, Janae will study Bible courses at IGBI-Tagum and gain hands-on training in cross-cultural ministry from experienced Filipino leaders alongside Robby & Tegwen Heath.
Paul, Mariana and Mathias Craesmeyer arrived safely in Johannesburg, South Africa to begin their new work with Dean & Sheba Padayhag. It is a blessing to have new laborers to share the load in this harvest field. The Craesmeyers will assist with the existing Bible school and church planting ministries, learning how TCM works. They also have a vision to reach out to Portuguese-speaking people in the city. Angola and Mozambique, countries bordering South Africa, are Portuguese-speaking so the opportunity is open! Pray for a smooth adjustment, unity in working together with the Padayhags, and a genuine Christ-love for the South African people. Pray also for the church left behind in Brazil under the leadership of Pastor Wezel.
We rejoice this week that Salvina Ulfindo was able to exit to Thailand and re-enter Mynamar with a business visa! Freda Guimba and her sister, Faith Bunglo, are returning to the Philippines today to attend their father’s funeral. Pray peace and comfort for them. October 30 Paul, Mariana and Matthias Craesmeyer will move from Brazil to their new field, South Africa. TCM International Director, Ben Anderson, will accompany them, then go on with Joyce to Uganda and Kenya. November 3, Gomer & Nene Indino will travel from Brazil to the Philippines for a 3-month furlough. November 7, Dan & Amy Banac and family will leave their Philippine homeland to join Salvina in Myanmar. Meanwhile, the Killion family and Tim & Judy Heath are completing their circuit of mission conferences in the Northwest USA. Isn’t it great that God can be everywhere at once, watching over each one?
Genesis & Verna Maraat write from Thailand, "We are rejoicing and praising for what God has done! During our Bible study at Jintana's house this evening, her eldest brother (Khun Rith) prayed to trust Jesus as his Savior. He has been a Buddhist since birth. God used the death of their mom to impact the life of Khun Rith. While their mom was still alive, Khun Rith was not interested in our Bible study. We are also rejoicing because in our second Bible study at Noi's house this evening, her son and mom prayed to trust Jesus alone as their Savior! We started these Bible studies in March this year. May these three souls who prayed to trust Jesus as their Savior grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18"
Salvina Ulfindo posted this message this morning, "I thank God for traveling mercies! I arrived at Yangon International airport today at 8:00 in the morning. The new Yangon International Airport looks beautiful!!! It's amazing to witness how this country is moving forward! I pray that the work of the Lord that has been started here through TCM will soar high as the people of God work together in love and unity with one ultimate goal -- To the praise of His glory alone!" Keep Salvina in your prayers as she looks for affordable accommodations and furnishings, learns her way around, and begins studying the Burmese language. Pray for unity of vision for Team Myanmar and the existing Grace ministries there headed up by Burmese Pastor Kenneth Ling.
Kenya Field Director, Titus Kivilu reports, "Nyangwa and Karambari Grace Bible Churches in the Mbeere region of Kenya held a joint regional conference on Aug. 25-27 at Gikondi. It was a great time for the believers coming together to fellowship, worship and to learn God’s Word. The organizing team had chosen great subjects under the theme, “The mystery of God’s will.” Believers of the 7 GBC churches from the two regions were very excited and enjoyed having such a wonderful moment and an opportunity to interact and bond together. It was truly an uplifting moment especially seeing several people making a decision to receive Christ as their personal Savior."
"South Africa, here we come! Departure date: Oct.31!" write Paul and Mariana Craesmeyer. "Now we have 48 days to get the rest in order for our trip/move. Mariana and I wish to thank you all who have kept us in prayer about this visa process. Your intercession has certainly been heard by God! His name be praised! Wisdom is what we ask for these days, not just in deciding what goes, what stays, and what's junk, but mostly for deciding how things will be set in the newly formed church in Sorocaba. Please join us as we pray for these saints, and as we part ways - we have become so fond of them! Yet now we must commend them to God, and to the word of His grace, which is able to build them up (Acts 20:32), knowing that none of this is our work, but God's."
As TCM's International Director, Ben and his wife Joyce endeavor to visit all of TCM's fields to offer vision, guidance, training, encouragement and accountability. On September 7 they left the Philippines for South Africa where they will be working with TCM missionaries, Dean & Sheba Padayhag until October 19. They will then proceed to Brazil until November 1st. During November and the first 3 weeks of December they will visit TCM's work in Kenya and Uganda before returning to the Philippines. They plan to relocate to Singapore as their base in January 2017. Pray for stamina and safety for them with all the traveling and moving from place to place, as well as wisdom from the Lord as they build up the work of TCM worldwide.
TCM regional leader, Pastor Peter Kagwi writes: “Thank you for your prayers. Last Sunday our ministry at Bura in Taita Taveta was so successful. A new Grace church was planted. We praise and give glory and honor back to God for opening an opportunity for the people of Bura to hear the gospel. Pray for Pastor Jacob Doto as he teaches the word of God rightly divided. Tuesday this week he started a weekly Bible study.” We are also encouraged to hear of progress on the ministry building under construction in Mombasa. They have already ordered and paid for the iron roofing sheets this week. By next week they hope to complete the roofing.
As Louisiana experienced floods, people across the world in Myanmar (Burma) were also suffering from flooding. TCM was able to provide aid from our Humanitarian fund. Pastor Kenneth Ling writes, “We do very much appreciate the funds you sent for the flood victims. On Saturday I was giving the help to the victims. This time I only can help within our church. I bought 7 bags of rice, 7 kilos of cooking oil, and 7 kilos of onions as there are seven families in our church affected by the flood. We do very much appreciate for the help which is uncountable value for the victims and for our church. On behalf of our church I would like to say thank you to all the donors and all who pray for Myanmar and also to TCM.
Praise the Lord, we started a house group at Li Sa’s apartment last month. God provided money to buy 10 chairs and a table. Thank for your partnership. At least 6 persons regularly attend this weekly fellowship. Some just want to practice English but our main goal is to teach them the Word of God. We have to be creative in our teaching to keep them interested, so we play games and kind of inject some Bible principles in our discussions. One night we presented some Bible verses to them, and last time we gave Khmer Bibles to two who have heard the gospel and learned a little bit about Jesus but do not go to church. Four others are not yet Christians so please include them in your prayers. Li Sa suggested telling them some short stories from the Bible then compare them to our present situations. We try to be creative, interesting and clear in our presentation of God’s truth but ultimately it is God who opens the hearts and minds of the people.
Pray for Team Myanmar! These friends and coworkers are separating from loved ones and all that is familiar to answer the call to evangelize the Burmese people. Nearly the entire country is lost and spiritually blind to the Truth. Last week a send-off service was held for Dan and Amy Banac and their children, Daniel and Daniella, and Salvina Ulfindo. Pray for them as they apply for visas and make their final preparations to depart for this new field! Salvina is scheduled to leave September 28 and the Banacs on November 7.
The Association of Berean Grace Ministries in South Africa successfully launched its newest church plant, Grace Berean Church-Hammanskraal on August 14, 2016. Fourteen people from the locality committed to work in the furtherance of the ministry in the area. Please pray for their need of a building structure and more chairs. TCM missionaries, Dean and Sheba Padayhag hope to start two more churches before the end of this year with the help of their new Bible school graduates. Fourways and Krugersdorp cities are the target places. Pray as they create a church planting team in these areas. Depending on the situation and growth of the members, their prayer is to develop the Bible study groups into full-fledged churches, with the vision of 20 churches by the end of the year 2020.
Mrs. Remy Delani Improso, wife of long-time pastor and leader of TCM Philippines, Antonio Improso, and step-mother of TCM missionary to Kenya, Gardner Improso, passed from this life into the presence of the Lord on August 15 after a long bout with cancer. Ma’am Remy’s association with TCM-Philippines began when she met Mrs. Deborah Pielago on a boat from Manila to Cebu in the late 70’s. Ma’am Remy was then a full-fledged nun of the Philippine Independent Church. Both women had a good time together around the Word. The boat meeting was a turning point in Ma’am Remy’s journey with the Lord. She decided to study in IGBI-Ozamis and after her graduation she was assigned as head of the Children’s Department. She was instrumental in preparing Sunday school materials for children. She also trained at the Asia Center for Missions (ACM) in Cebu City and served as a missionary in Mongolia. Ma’am Remy later married Pastor Antonio Improso, Director Emeritus, TCM-Philippines. May the Lord comfort her husband, relatives and friends until we are reunited with her in heaven.
Phnom Penh Grace Gospel Church of Christ celebrated its 9th anniversary with great enthusiasm on July 31. The guests were neighbors, students, friends and missionaries. One of the highlights of the event was the formal acceptance of the 3 newest members of the church. God has added more people into His family. Also featured was a special song presented by the children from Rathy and Chantha’s outreach ministry on the other side of the city. This couple’s main goal is to plant a house church; but for now, they are teaching the children in their neighborhood while trying to reach out to the parents. May the church continue to evangelize those who have not yet learned of Jesus Christ. Pray for willingness and boldness of each member of the church to share the gospel with their friends and families, and to live out their faith in the community.
Nathan and Jessica Killion have been holding Sunday meetings at the “House of Grace” in a village outside Chiang Mai, Thailand. The Killions are partnering with Allen and Mareewan Radtke, who live in the village, in this outreach ministry. For several weeks the focus has been on sharing Bible stories from the book of Genesis, always pointing people to the gospel and their need for Jesus Christ. As a result, some of the children are beginning to ask questions about what it means to be a Christian. Pray for these kids, that they will truly put their faith in Christ. Pray for the ministry to continue during the Killions’ absence—on August 12 they return to the U.S. for a year to connect with family, friends and churches and share about their ministry.
Singapore’s late President Lee Kuan Yew, was fond of saying in one generation Singapore moved from third world to first world. Although there are churches in Singapore, the population is just 7% evangelical Christian; the majority beliefs are Buddhism, Islam and secularism. In 2016 TCM took the bold step of engaging Singapore with the goal of planting a Grace church. James & Agape Bermejo answered the call and already have an active schedule of preaching and training as they seek ways to obtain a permanent visa. A 45-minute ferry ride south of Singapore is Batam Island, Indonesia. The Indonesian Grace Bible Churches have committed to plant a church in Batam as a sister church to the future Singapore Grace church. On August 2-3 International Director Ben & Joyce Anderson will meet with Indonesian leaders in Batam to strategize planting this new church. TCM is excited to organize this kind of partnership which is essential for the continued growth of the Body of Christ.
TCM is now in all 18 Regions in the Philippines: in 54 out of 82 Provinces; 40 out of 145 Cities; 48 out 1,489 Municipalities; for a total of 512 Grace Gospel Churches. This means that the TCM membership represents a notable spectrum of society in the Philippines. However, our country’s present population is now 102,250,133 (Philippine Statistics Authority)! God’s Word strongly re-echoes the same challenge: “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Romans 10:14-15). Pray for the pastors, Bible women and members of the Philippine churches as they continue to bring the Good News to their countrymen.
TCM-Kenya leaders, Titus Kivilu and Peter Kagwi traveled to Uganda to continue Part 2 of the pastoral training program. Pastor Titus wrote, "We praise God for the 6 days of powerful and successful Bible and ministry training at Uganda Grace Pastoral Training that ended today. How we thank God for the 16 committed men and women who sacrificially participated in this Part 2 of training. We pray that as they have a willing heart to serve, God will use each of them to advance the gospel of the grace of God in this country and beyond. Tomorrow Pastor Peter and I will worship and minister the Word of God here at UGGCC and after the service we will start our trip back to Kenya. We appreciate your prayers. We give all honor and glory to God!"
These students are enrolled in the following four IGBI-campuses, namely, IGB I-Tagum City: 55; IGBI-Ozamiz City: 54; IGBI-Bataan: 16; and IGBI-Cauayan City: 13, or a total of 138. The present number of students is significantly lower than that of last year; the same campuses had 203 students last school-year. The main reason for the low turn-out of enrollment is the government’s national implementation of the K-12 program. The K to 12 Program covers Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education (six years of primary education, four years of Junior High School, and two years of Senior High School to provide sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for college (tertiary education).
“There are only two words that truly fit the unforgettable 50-year Martial Arts celebration that I was incredibly blessed to receive: Awesome Surprise!” writes Bob Xavier. “I received gifts of five professionally crafted albums with letters and pictures from hundreds of students and parents. What’s more, I was given the supreme gift of a first-class sword, engraved with many of our Grace Martial Arts Black Belt names. This truly was way over the top! What outshined all of the joy that the Lord let me experience the evening of May 24, was the surprise of the presence of some very longtime (over 40-years), distinguished, faithful friends and students from Connecticut. Grace Martial Arts (GMA) is dedicated to providing a variety of non-violent martial arts defense skills with Biblical life-skill illustrations applicable for training children, youth, teens and adults. Our purpose is to proclaim the Gospel of the Grace of the God, reach the lost, serve our communities and touch the lives of “at risk youth” and families in need. The GMA ministry is a powerful tool for connecting with our kids’ world while affirming them with vital Grace-centered Christian family values. Our challenge is to lead students to know the Lord and His Word so well that they will make wise lifestyle choices and succeed in life.”
The Southeast Asia Grace Conference (SEAGC) was well-organized and a product of hard work and well-thought-out planning! The 164 registered delegates representing 11 countries actively spent the four full-day (May 26-30) special gathering in meaningful vision-mission-casting workshops, challenging testimonies and messages from the Word of missionaries, free time lively inter-actions among participants, God-glorifying worship services, educational tour, and, of course, healthy and “eat-all-you-can” delicious food, and super hotel accommodations! Ben & Joyce Anderson, Ariel & Faith Mahilum and the Cambodia team, and members of the different local committees: God bless you all for your hard work! The SEAGC was awesome and unforgettable! Let’s all prayerfully look forward to the next SEAGC in Thailand 2018! (Pastor Pielago)
The third Southeast Asia Grace Conference is set to begin in Siem Reap, Cambodia! This is an exciting time of teaching, goal-setting and fellowship following the theme When Mission Gets Real: SENT! New TCM Team missionaries will also be commissioned. The conference will run May 26 – 30. Over 160 delegates from countries all over Southeast Asia as well as Asia Adventure participants from the USA and UK are registered to attend. Conference coordinator, Ariel Mahilum writes: “We are ready to meet you guys! Pray for travel mercies for all. 'Jesus I believe in You and I would go to the ends of the earth for You'! Soli Deo Gloria!”
Heavy rains have caused a landslide that has damaged the wall of the new Mombasa ministry center in Kenya that is still under construction. In the photo you can see the lower right side of the back wall has a big hole in it. Pastor Peter Kagwi estimates it will cost $1400 to repair the damage. This is in addition to the $3500 needed to complete the construction project. The building will house the Mombasa Grace Bible Church as well as the Berean Grace School of Ministry that trains pastors and leaders for the work in Kenya. Pastor Kagwi has planned a local fund-raiser on June 5th. If you would like to contribute to this project, contact TCM by phone (317) 783-0300 or email tcm@tcmusa.org
Dennis and Lydia Kenepp have been actively involved in ministry and event planning at Altoona Bible Church in Pennsylvania for the past 10 years. Dennis (aka Denny) is currently employed as a computer technician with a local school district. Lydia works as a nanny. They, along with their children Emma and Graydn, are looking forward to serving with TCM in Southeast Asia. Next week they will join the Asia Adventure trip and attend the Southeast Asia Grace Conference in Cambodia where they will meet the missionaries and many national leaders from the countries in Southeast Asia where TCM works.
This father-son duo hails from Altoona Bible Church in Pennsylvania. John has been actively involved in many areas of the church and has taught an adult Sunday School class for the past 30 years. He holds a PhD in nuclear engineering and is a professor at Saint Francis University. Aaron has been a special education teacher but is currently working as a pastoral intern at Altoona Bible Church. These men join our faithful board members (rt to lft), Aaron Harris, Jesse Vaught (chairman), John Harris, Jim Tollar, Tim Heath, Don Sommer (Treasurer), Tim Board (Secretary) and Doug Cox. TCM thanks these men for giving of their time and wisdom to serve on the Board.
In 2012 the TCM-Philippines Grace Churches set a goal called TCM IMPACT: 115 x 2017. Their goal was to plant five churches in each of 23 regions by the end of 2017. The churches rose to the task and began opening “pioneering areas.” In the past 12 months, 27 churches were planted making 83 since the project started. The total number of recognized Grace churches is now 512. Field Director Pielago writes, “The project is only short of 32 churches before hitting the target! Pray that the Lord would continue to bless and allow us to reach our goals.” IMPACT is an acronym which means I Must Plant A Church Today.
“We prayed and GOD provided! We searched and we found it! We thank the Lord for blessing us with a new Gospel Truck!” write TCM South Africa missionaries, Dean and Sheba Padayhag. The truck project was featured in the spring issue of TCM’s International Harvest magazine, published last month, and already people have responded with tremendous generosity to provide all the needed funds to make the purchase! The truck will be used to carry sound equipment and instruments for outdoor evangelism. The sides and back of the truck bed fold down to serve as a stage for the preacher and carrier for sound instruments for outdoor evangelism. Please pray for safety and empowerment as the ABGMSA evangelistic team travels to target places preaching the wonderful message of Grace. Praise the Lord for the donors and contributors of this much needed project.
New Team Myanmar members, Dan Banac and Salvina Ulfindo, have joined Ben and Joyce Anderson and Gardner Improso on a survey trip to Myanmar. Pray for good rapport and shared vision between the Team members and the Burmese Grace pastors. Team Myanmar is enthusiastic about the opportunity awaiting them. Salvina writes, “I am excited to tell you that we had a great time of fellowship with brethren in Baguio City last Sunday. I taught in the Sunday School and Pastor Dan delivered a very powerful message during the worship service. After the message, we sang the hymn Go Tell the Untold Millions. The church leaders offered a send-off prayer for the Team, and a love offering was also given. We are grateful that God moved the hearts of brethren in this part of the Philippines to respond to God's call of partnering with us in bringing the gospel of the grace of God to the regions beyond. Let us all continue to be ‘expendables’ for His Glory and Honor!”
On opening the TCM mail this week we are in awe of the Lord’s provision and overwhelmed by the generosity of His people! We have received donations that completely cover the expenses of all three projects listed in the recent issue of TCM’s International Harvest magazine! Faith Bunglo responded to the news of their homeschooling needs for this year being met, “At this very moment our hearts are rejoicing and praising God for His riches that He keeps pouring on my family. We thank the Lord for this answered prayer. Last Friday, my children were reminded by the school administrator that they need to be enrolled this week, and we needed money for their registration and fees. Jude and I prayed hard this weekend for this particular need and, before we knew it, God answered already through these donations. Really, God is great and worthy to be praised! We thank the Lord for all of you who work hard to provide all our needs. God is really preparing our children, too, for this new system of learning.”
Three Filipino saints entered the presence of our Savior today. “Pastor Buen” Bienvenido Sausa, 64, a faithful servant of God, was instrumental in planting a TCM church in Anahawan, Leyte and another one in Iligan City, where he was the pastor for more than two decades. He served also as a Bible teacher in IGBI-Tagum. He is survived by his wife, Delia, daughters Eunice & Lois and son Timothy, five sisters (three are Bible women) and four brothers (three are pastors). His mother, Salud, 87, also went home to heaven just a few hours earlier. Steve Mahilum, pictured with his brother, Ariel Mahilum (TCM-Cambodia missionary) was called home while being treated for liver tuberculosis. Ariel writes, "We'll appreciate your prayers for his wife and 2 kids and for my family as we cope with this painful reality of life. Thanks for those who have visited and assisted him during his treatment. It made him feel loved and cared for. Still, God is good all the time. The Lord gave and the Lord takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord. Philippians 1:21."
Close to 200 were in attendance for the Joint-Church Service hosted by Grace Berean Church-Springs in their brand new building! We celebrated God's provision for the construction, especially as the floor had just been poured earlier that week! We used to have just a couple cars during joint services and today the area around the church was full! The hosting church started off the service with their beautiful music, followed by worship teams from other churches. Pastor Kennedy Mandaza, chairman of the national board, led the adult Sunday school inside, while the kids met outside with Bible woman Neo Thobela, and Bible student Hazel Cura. Pastor Mashinini shared a devotion with Pastor Sphewi Hlatswayo interpreting, and missionary Dean Padayhag preached the message. National ministry president, Pastor Steve Thobela led the turnover ceremony of the church building to the GBC—Springs congregation. We thank the Lord for the hospitality and generosity of the hosts who spent a lot of time in the kitchen and outside preparing food for visitors. Thank you for all those who let the Lord use them as channels of blessings.
Praise God for the ten students in Phnom Penh, Cambodia who attended the first Level 1classes in Cambodia Grace Theological School. Lessons are offered every other Saturday from 7a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Everyone on Team Cambodia is involved in teaching courses: Bible Synthesis, Hermeneutics 1, and Basic Bible Doctrine 1—Ariel Mahilum, Julia Liles—Evangelism , Myra Omictin— Old Testament Survey, and Stewardship—Faith Mahilum. Pastor Sorn Srouch shared the Word at the chapel hour. Please pray for the teachers and the students!
“A sea of faces” is how Pastor Pielago described the celebration of thankfulness for the establishment of 100 Grace churches on the island of Negros in the Philippines. Five hundred people were expected, but over 1000 attended the activities of the opening night! God’s faithfulness is un-expendable, indeed! Incredibly amazing! As early as 8:00 a.m. on March 23, 2016, motor cycles, cars, and cargo trucks full to the maximum of Grace believers, began arriving from different parts of Negros island. Most of the vehicles carried colorful streamers identifying their church locations along with colorfully printed “Grace Grand Thanksgiving Celebration” banners! At 4:00 p.m., the Governor of Negros Oriental gave a short talk welcoming the visitors to his province. A three-minute fireworks display at the Tambo public plaza signaled the opening ceremonies of the historic celebration. The Word was strongly proclaimed and expounded by Pastor Ben Anderson and TCM national leaders during the two-day celebration. Some 30 adults and young people professed salvation at the close of the grand event. The celebration was superb, unforgettable, spiritually enriching, and God-glorifying!
TCM International Director, Ben Anderson was the featured guest speaker at the Negros Grand Thanksgiving Celebration this past week to commemorate 100 Grace churches on one island: 1000 in attendance, 101 churches, 30 professions of faith. Pastor Jesse Nombre, pictured with Ben, is one of the faithful church planting pioneers of TCM in the Philippines. The TCM Grace ministry on the island of Negros began in 1960 through the ministry of the late Pastor Vernon Anderson and pioneer Filipino workers including the late Pastor Potenciano Undag. The late Pastor Joseph Watkins (70's) and Pastor Vernon Bigelow (early 80's) were tremendously used of the Lord to encourage the ministry along with the late Pastor Simforiano Babylonia. 1960-2016 – 56 years! All through these years, “His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is His faithfulness!”
Dean and Sheba Padayhag write: “For the first time ever in our South African ministry, we will be holding a MISSIONS CONFERENCE on May 1 to 2. This is for the Association of Berean Grace Ministries South Africa Board, church planters, pastors, GBBS students and ministry leaders. We will feature the different foreign mission fields to impart ideas and generate passion for the mission work. The main goal of this conference is to create a solid action plan in saturating the 9 provinces of South Africa...as well as reaching into the bordering countries within and around.”
TCM Team Cambodia is inaugurating a ministry training program in a Bible school setting to raise more leaders and ministers in Cambodia. The launching is March 27, 2016 in Phnom Penh Grace Gospel Church of Christ. The first meeting is on April 9, 2016 (Saturday 7 AM to 4 PM). If you are interested to join this ministry training please contact the school registrar Myra Omictin more information. Contact TCM USA if you would like to sponsor a student’s registration scholarship of $66. Please pray for this program, for the students, faculty & staff. The medium of instruction is English. Soli Deo Gloria!
On March 19, Valerie Anderson married Pete Wynalda of Grace Church, Indianapolis. Valerie has served with TCM as a missionary educator for 30 years and is currently the USA Office Administrator. She is the daughter of TCM’s first foreign missionaries, Vernon and Darlene Anderson. Valerie’s brother, Ben Anderson (TCM’s International Director) and his wife Joyce were able to return from the Philippines and participate in the wedding thanks to incredibly cheap tickets and the generosity of their sister, Hope, who paid for them. The wedding ceremony was performed by Don Sommer, pastor of Grace Church and TCM’s new Executive Director. TCM missionary to England, Barry Pumphrey gave the invocation and former TCM missionary to Brazil, Barbara Bowman Sistelos performed a solo. It truly is a beautiful occasion when members of the Body of Christ gather to witness a marriage as God designed it to be!
TCM International Director, Ben Anderson writes: “We just participated in the first ever mission conference in the Philippines. It was held in Matlang, Leyte and several churches took part. We brought Gerson Bermejo (head of Mission Department) and the Guimbas along with their prospective new missionary teammates, Judy & Faith Bunglo and Juna Umacob. Quite a number of members filled out pledge forms and one church gave their entire offering to for the missionaries.” The theme of the conference was “Finishing the Task” based on Acts 20:24, “But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.”
Pastor Peter Kagwi, head of TCM's Kenya Coast Minstry writes, "Although there have been many challenges in our construction, we thank the Lord for how far that He has taken us. Since timber and stone are so expensive in Mombasa, we have decided to use metals. More funds have been used in excavating the ground. It is so sloppy and had a lot of work. This week the wall will be finished. Then we look forward to put on the roofing. We thank the Lord for every donation given for this project, and trust the Lord will provide for finishing it. Our aim is to have the project finished and dedicated to the Lord by March this year."
International Director, Ben Anderson, writes: January 20 could be the greatest day in the history of Things to Come Mission. The TCM board, meeting in Indianapolis, accepted 12 new missionaries from three countries who will be proclaiming the good new of Jesus Christ in five countries. Now the work begins of assisting these missionary candidates to form their sending teams and travel to the place God has directed them by the end of 2016. Please be in prayer for them: Dan & Amy Banac, James & Agape Bermejo, Faith & Judy Bunglo, Paul & Mariana Craesmeyer, Robby & Tegwen Heath, Salvina Ulfindo and Juna Umacob. It is an honor to be working with these faithful men and women of God.
TCM’s newest missionary, John Cook, has arrived safely at his destination in the Southeast Asian country where he will live and work. He writes, “ Our flight was delayed out of Chicago by about 3-4 hours due to weather conditions. Other than that, it was smooth sailing (our should I say flying!) from there. I was greeted warmly by Pat and Michelle Kilgo as well as Ben and Joyce Anderson. Thank you all for your support and prayers as I traveled. This is the first full day of a wonderful new chapter in all of our lives. Let's continue to do great things for Him! Please pray for me as I go to look at apartments. Pat has graciously offered his home (and Robert his room...poor Robert....I snore), until I can settle into a place. Please keep both the Kilgo family and myself in your prayers!”
If you’ve read Corrie Ten Boom’s story, you may recall her refusal to join her sister in thanking God for the lice and fleas in their concentration camp barracks. Those vermin did turn out to be a blessing for the Ten Boom sisters, and they have provided a unique and practical form of outreach for our missionaries in Siem Reap, Cambodia! After getting a permit from the village chief to conduct a health education seminar and lice treatment to the kids in their neighborhood, Ariel and Faith Mahilum joined up with a YWAM discipleship training team to provide those services. Parents brought their kids by to have their hair washed with special lice treatment shampoo and to be trained in basic hygiene. It was a great opportunity to interact with the neighbors and their children, and to share how their sins can also be washed away through the cleansing power of Jesus’ blood!
The wife of a Filipino couple working in a high-risk southeast Asian country has set a record for the longest time out of the Philippines for a TCM Filipino missionary family: 4.5 years! That’s a long time to be away from home! The couple returned to the Philippines last week for a 3-month break. In an interview with Ben Anderson, TCM’s International Director, the wife said, "I could have stayed longer, but I thought that [my husband] needed a break." That was after she showed him the dog bites where she was attacked by three dogs while walking in the city where they serve! What a faithful servant of the Lord! Pray for this couple as they have a time of refreshing and regroup for the work when they return!
For the past month Ben and Joyce Anderson have been teaching missionary training courses at GTCM in Manila, Philippines. On Sundays they have been visiting Grace churches in the area for encouragement and to present the church’s responsibility for mission. They are excited to see many of the churches active in nearby outreach as well as supporting foreign missionaries. Following the GTCM graduation, Ben and Joyce have begun traveling to other places for ministry. This past weekend they spoke at the Luzon Workers Conference and Advanced Training Seminar with around 100 members and trainees. They focused on the theme “Mobilizing the Local Church for Growth” from Eph. 4:11-16 where Apostle Paul shows that ministers are Christ's gift to the body of Christ for preparing the members for works of service leading to growth. Their next destination is Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia for a two-days visa renewal trip. At the end of December they will embark on a longer journey to visit other TCM fields in Southeast Asia as part of Ben’s International Director responsibilities.
The Mizpah Youth Group is a gathering of young people of different nationalities (Korean, Singaporean, Cambodians and Filipinos) for fellowship, prayer, worship and Word. This was organized by Pauline Mahilum, daughter of TCM missionaries to Cambodia, Ariel and Faith Mahilum, and her friend, Roxy Prieto. Please pray for these youngsters in Siem Reap as they continue to seek God's will in their lives. Praise God for His unspeakable gifts! The financial need for the Mahilums' Christmas party and mini-concert with gift giving for Cambodian kids has been provided. To God is all the glory!
Berean Grace School of Ministries in Mombasa, Kenya has celebrated its fourth graduation ceremony. The six graduates of this year’s class are excited to serve the Lord! This ministry training program is directed by Pastor Peter Kagwi and is intended to train pastors and leaders for churches all across Kenya. TCM missionary Gardner Improso participated in the graduation ceremony. Rejoice with these graduates and pray for them as they enter the ministry!
The Padayhags are celebrating their 10th anniversary in a unique way! They are visiting 10 cities across South Africa in 12 days, traveling over 4000 km/2485 miles! Armed with DVDs, gospel tracts, books and charts, they are ready to minister to new acquaintances and social media contacts. They have scheduled some Bible studies and meetings with online students of the Bible school. Pray that God will open doors of opportunity for the expansion of the Grace ministry in South Africa! Of course, they will be stopping at some tourist attractions en route to our destinations. Please pray for their safety, health and provision for this trip.
Fourteen Filipino missionary candidates have graduated from Grace Theological Center for Mission in Manila, Philippines. Most of these candidates have family and ministries, so their involvement with this mission training program was a sacrifice. The trainees have all expressed strongly their calling to take the gospel to the regions beyond the Philippines. TCM missionary Genesis Maraat challenged them from 1 Cor. 9 at the graduation on Nov. 29 with over 250 Grace members from the Manila churches attending. A favorite song performed by the trainees is “Go Tell the Untold Millions.” Several more people were challenged for mission and discussions are already underway for the next class of GTCM. Pray for Pray also for TCM-USA and TCM-Philippines as we review applications from these candidates and assist them with fund-raising in both countries.
Our TCM missionaries in a restricted Southeast Asian country wrote: We celebrated a Thanksgiving feast with fifty people from the following countries: Britain, China, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines. Praise God! Most of them are from our Bible studies. They invited their friends and brought their favorite dishes to share. We had an interesting assortment of food, as you can imagine! It was quite an accomplishment to get so many people under one roof and speaking different languages! Now we're in the planning stages of our next potluck gathering on Christmas Day. Already our friends are anticipating a wonderful time!
Luz Gaddi is retiring after 30 years of ministry with TCM in Indonesia, Uganda and Kenya. Kenya’s national director, Titus Kivilu, writes, “We sincerely thank God for tremendously using Madam Luz during her 1 year ministry in Uganda and the 7 years of ministry in Kenya. Her ministry in Kenya was quite unique as she never lived in one place but she moved around the country every 6-12 months, living among the people and ministering to the local churches. The commitment and sacrificial spirit Luz has expressed in her missionary work is a challenge to all of us to serve the Lord selflessly and with total devotion. During her ministry Luz mentored and trained competent Sunday school teachers, youth and women’s leaders. She has also been one of the instructors in our Bible School training programs. Our faithful Lord has her reward in heaven for all such labors for Him. As Madam Luz retires she leaves a great legacy in Africa and everywhere else she worked as a missionary.”
Chomphoo (pictured on right) is a neighbor of Mareewan (pictured left) and Allen Radke in Chiangmai, Thailand. They invited Chomphoo to attend Grace Church the past two Sundays. This was a special Sunday for Chomphoo since she decided to pray to receive Jesus Christ as her Savior after TCM missionary, Nathan Killion, and Mareewan explained the gospel to her. After she prayed, Chomphoo said she wanted to cry because her heart was so filled with happiness. Please pray for Chomphoo that she will grow in her walk with Jesus and that she can be a testimony to her Buddhist family.
The 9th church anniversary of Grace Berean Church-Kempton Park was heart-warming for TCM missionaries, Dean and Sheba Padayhag. This was the first church they planted when they arrived in South Africa as a newlywed couple. As the founders, they could not help but be in tears to see their "children in the faith" doing the work in the most splendid way. Pastor Kennedy Mandaza, who took over the leadership 3 years ago, is doing great in leading the church forward. This church has been the home of 12 graduates from Grace Berean Bible School, the national organization’s board chair, national youth president and other officers, outreach ministry head, pastoral fellowship representative, national women's fellowship president, and 4 church planters!
Dean and Sheba Padayhag invite you to join in celebrating the victory and success of the Association of Berean Grace Ministries South Africa’s national conference. One hundred and forty delegates attended. Five of them accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Sixteen committed to enrolling in the Bible school in January, and more are expected from other churches. The graduation ceremony was solemn and memorable. The hosts did a great job of feeding the delegates. There were even extra funds left for the venue deposit for the next conference. It's great to see believers fired up, motivated and involved in the ministry!
GRACE THEOLOGICAL CENTER FOR MISSION (GTCM) in Manila, Philippines has commenced training 13 missionary candidates. They will study the following courses for these next two months: Theology of Missions, History of Missions, Missions Strategy, Missionary Life and Stewardship, Church Planting, Leadership, Hermeneutics and Teaching Strategies, Missions and Culture, Orientation to TCM Policy and Procedures. The program will also include an international exposure trip and research paper. Pray that God would bless this maiden missionary training school as she embarks on this endeavor. Pray for both physical and spiritual strength for the teachers and students as they engage in their daily hectic schedules. Also, pray for the financial needs of the school, teachers and students. Pastor Gerson Bermejo is the director of the program, and TCM veteran missionaries Ben & Joyce Anderson and Ariel Mahilum are among the lead instructors.
Julia Liles received a warm welcome from co-worker Myra Omictin upon her arrival in Cambodia last Sunday. She writes, "My first reaction was joy! To have landed, to be back, to hug old friends, to recognise the area! These feelings were hurriedly filled in with questions like 'Can I really do this long term? Can I really leave my family & friends in the UK who need my support? Can I settle here and be a successful witness of Jesus and teacher?' I'm feeling a little more relaxed today as I gave some Bible verses to a girl during my first solo stroll down the street and spoke a little Khmer greeting to my neighbours. I also managed to speak with my family via Skype which made me feel normal despite the distance! I need to enroll in a language course and plan out a weekly schedule following a team meeting this coming weekend. This is just the start of an incredible journey and I thank God you are with me in this!"
“Not Good Enough,” the first of four gospel tracts Dean and Sheba Padayhag plan to distribute in South Africa this year, has been published! Dean wrote the original messages for these tracts. “Not Good Enough” is designed to reach those who have been in or around church all their lives but have never entered into a genuine personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It sends a powerful message of the grace of God in freely offering salvation to all who have been trying to be good enough to merit God’s favor. Five thousand copies of the tract were printed and half of those have already been given to the churches to use for evangelism. Pray that the Lord will use these tracts to bring people to a clear understanding of salvation by grace through faith, not of works.
Benalin Chepkemoi shed tears of joy during the worship service in Eldoret, Kenya as she shared her testimony of how God delivered her from a pit of sin and death. Benalin was a traditional brew (changaa) addict before she came to know Christ. One Sunday she entered the church compound completely drunk to a point she could not understand herself and she was a nuisance to the worshippers throughout the worship service. Pastor James was told about Benalin’s life story and the following day he and a church elder went to her home. They talked to her about Jesus Christ, explaining that if she put her faith in Him, all her sins will be forgiven and her life will be changed by the transforming power of the Lord. Benalin trusted in Jesus and got saved. Truly the grace of God has power to save and to transform lives! Benalin’s life has completely changed and she is now using her singing talent to glorify God in the church!
Pastor James Bermejo and his wife Agape are stepping out in faith to follow God’s call to become missionaries! James & Agape are both graduates of IGBI, TCM's Bible School in the Philippines. They have planted two urban Grace churches and have proven faithful in their eight years of serving the Lord. At TCM's Southeast Asia Grace Conference in Kuala Lumpur last summer they made the decision to be missionaries. James has just submitted his 30 days resignation notice from his secular job in preparation for attending the missionary training program in Manila in October and November. He writes, “We will be honored once again if you please include us in your prayers that may God will continue to meet our needs during and after the training since I will no longer be receiving salary from my secular job. It is indeed a great leap of faith but, with great hope, we believe that God will make His ways possible.”
Julia Liles leaves her home in England this Saturday, September 5th, for her first assignment as a TCM missionary! She will be joining Myra Omictin in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Julia asks prayer for wisdom in prioritizing her time in these last few days at home, comfort in all the good-byes, perseverance with packing her life into a couple suitcases and safe travels without feeling too nervous! Pray also for her family, as it’s hard to see a loved one move to the other side of the world. We trust that the Lord will anoint Julia and make her bold in faith and still in Him. Visit Julia’s page on our website to see her latest updates.
TCM-Indonesia’s national leader, Harold Sigar, went to Manado to attend the Bible School graduation on August 22nd. The nine graduates have been sent to their new posts on the islands of Sulawesi and Java. Pray for the ministry in Indonesia, as Pastor Sigar plans to go to Nias this month to attend ministry training for elders and youth. (Nias is an island off the coast of Sumatra where a church was planted after the devastation of the 2004 tsunami.) After that, Pastor Sigar will visit several churches before returning to the island of Sulawesi to lead the 2016 Indonesia National Conference.
Ariel and Faith Mahilum report, “It was an amazing night of worship and fellowship in the Word and with each other. Four couples came together and shared our journey as husbands and wives, and we were challenged to build a household of Faithfulness, Affection, Insight, Truth and Hope. It was the first Grace Couples Fellowship and the birth of TCM Cambodia Board of Trustees that will provide leadership, decision making, and nurture to TCM members in Cambodia and will work alongside TCM Missionaries. Please pray for these couples that we will grow hand in hand and heart to heart, together in the Lord. To God be the glory!”
Ben Anderson reports from Kisumu on the shores of Lake Victoria: “The Grace Bible Church national conference was held at the YWCA in the town center. The space was adequate for around 120 people, but more kept arriving each day, eventually going well past 200! We had to move into tents in an open area. The conference set several records including total attendance, international visitors (ten people from Uganda plus me), pastor's wives attending and location in a major city. The theme of the conference was ‘Proclaiming God's Wondrous Works’ in celebration of 30 years of GBC in Kenya. I spoke four times plus gave a challenge at the cake cutting ceremony. There was a strong sense of unity and a desire to take the gospel to the rest of Kenya.”
“Praise the Lord, last Saturday we had 10 kids who studied the Bible with us! Three kids were new and two kids decided to receive Jesus Christ!” Mareewan Radtke writes from Thailand. Mareewan, a Thai believer, and her husband Allen, have a weekly outreach to children in the village where they live. They attend TCM’s Grace Church in Chiang Mai. “Seven kids went to church with us yesterday. For two, it was the first time they went to church in their life. They had a wonderful time at church. They told me they love our church because they like worship songs and friends in church. Please pray for our kids to grow up in Christ. God loves Thai kids. May God bless you all too.”
Kenyan national leader Peter Kagwi took Ben Anderson to visit the land near Mombasa which has been purchased for the Coast Grace Centre. During the visit, Peter told Ben the rather humorous story of a neighborhood goat that fell into a deep and narrow well on the property. A local man offered to go into the well to get the goat for Sh500 ($5). Unfortunately, the rope broke and the man fell into the water. When they called down to see if he was OK, the man shouted, “Throw down a stick, there's a snake down here also!” Eventually both man and goat were rescued from the well, a bit banged up but alive and well. So if you think you're having a bad day, it could probably be worse . . .
A summer ministry team from Frontline Bible Church just returned to Michigan after a very fruitful visit to the TCM work in North Brazil. The team completed a roofing project for the Dois Carneiros Bible Church and trained 32 teachers for the TCM churches in Recife. Those teachers immediately put their training into practice through VBS and youth programs. Joe Campos wrote, “We had the second meeting of our recently started youth program. It was amazing! The Lord doubled the attendance from the first meeting, and we had almost 80 young people worshiping, learning and serving! We are going to follow up with a meeting for young men to talk about specific struggles they go through. Thank you for your support and prayers!”
The South Africa ministry had an incredibly busy weekend with a visit from TCM International Director, Ben Anderson! The Padayhags reported, "Friday morning, we videotaped TCM’s Troas Strategy at our studio, and in the evening Ben spoke at a joint service in the new church in Boksburg. Saturday morning Ben met the board of Association of Berean Grace Ministries South Africa, then taught at Grace Berean Bible School the rest of the day. Sunday morning we drove to Tshepisong for a service attended by delegations from several churches and a historic ground-breaking ceremony for the Tshepisong church multi-purpose ministry center! One hundred fifty believers took part in the momentous occasion. Grace TV was also officially launched as our newest ministry and the first batch of DVD copies were released!"
Pastor Cadelina shared this story: The first night of evangelistic meetings was way up in the mountains. We left the van due to broken bridges and hiked barefoot. When I walked about one kilometer, a member told me to ride on his horse. I had not ridden a horse in quite a long time. It was exciting. Two of the three team members hiked with another horse carrying the generator, wires, amplifier, tracts, etc. The first night meeting had many problems like rain showers. Two persons who had unsolved conflicts got into a fight in the meeting hall. One was hit with a stick and the bolo (machete) was ready for stabbing. There were drops of blood. So, I stopped the show. When the two were gone, we continued. Then we almost ran out of gasoline for the generator. In the end nearly all attendees professed to receive Christ as their Savior and Lord. We are so happy!
Pastor Kenneth Ling sends this urgent request, "Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This is my special prayer request: In the past two weeks there was a big rain in Myanmar resulting in floods and landslides in the Chin State. They lost many houses and many people are now homeless. Roads and bridges also collapsed. Our Chin people need your prayer and help! We are also giving our help by money, clothes and rice. One sack of rice costs 100,000 Kyats ($85 US). I do really believe that God will hear our cry from our deepest heart and He will wipe away our tears from our eyes. Please pray for our Chin State and Chin people."
As the Africa Safari team flies back to the USA, TCM national leader Titus Kivilu writes, “Thank God for the 9 successive days of ministry with the Africa Safari Team 2015. We evangelized in towns and villages, helped in church building projects, ministered to children in churches and orphanages, taught in 3 pastors and leaders seminars and preached in different churches. We saw souls come to saving faith by believing in Jesus Christ as their savior, believers being encouraged and edified through touching messages and testimonies from the Safari team members, and pastors and church leaders challenged to serve God with vision and passion as we prepare people for Christ’s return. By the end of the 9 days a preacher was made! That preacher is Safari Team member, Josiah Prindle, who preached his first ever message at a night fellowship in Ndutori Church and his second message at Sunday worship service at Kiganthi Church! Thank you Safari Team members for your service for the Lord here in Kenya.”
This past week the Grace Church in Dubai celebrated its third anniversary. Ken Omictin (pictured), shared the history of the fellowship. Ken is the sister of Myra Omictin, TCM missionary to Cambodia. She founded this fellowship made up mostly of Filipinos living and working in Dubai. The church invited Ariel Mahilum to come from Cambodia as the guest speaker for their four-day anniversary event. One of the members wrote, “Thank you Lord for the successful celebration and for all your prayers and support. To God be the Glory!!!”
The Africa Safari summer ministry team of five volunteers led by Ben Anderson arrived in Nairobi, Kenya on July 17, shortly after President Obama landed. They were delayed leaving the airport until security opened up for TCM missionary, Gardner Improso, to drive in and pick them up. The team started out in Embu, one of TCM's regional headquarters, with a building project and outreach. Ben reported, "All is well on the Safari. I think we have already worn out the one guy with me who can preach. Everyone is working hard and enjoying the opportunities to do evangelism. Interestingly, their favorite activity is evangelizing in the towns and villages."
Pastor Peter Kagwi writes from the coastal region of Kenya, “We have a great hope for the growth of the work here. More students of Berean Grace School of Ministry are being used in the ministry of church planting. We are reaching new areas through evangelism. One of those is Voi, a town along Mombasa-Nairobi highway. One of our graduates is preparing to be the pastor who shall work together with Grace Bible Church in pioneering the new work in that region. Pray for Pastor Patrick that the Lord will fully prepare him and his family for that calling.”
Carl Sommer and Neil Skinner spent two months in Cambodia as summer missionaries. One of their projects was to build this shelter for outreach to village children. During their stay Carl and Neil also taught computer classes and built a wall around the village ministry property, evangelized in the city and village and mentored college students. TCM Cambodia thanks Carl and Neil for their love and sacrifice.
The Grace Gospel Fellowship invited Tim Heath to be the opening speaker for their annual Family Bible Conference that took place in Grand Rapids, Michigan. TCM sponsored a luncheon for the attendees, during which Ben Anderson outlined the Mission’s history over the past 60 years, detailing how TCM was founded, which year each field was opened and the current missionaries and ministries in those countries. The luncheon also provided an opportunity to introduce John Cook, TCM’s newest missionary, as well as TCM’s new leadership team: Ben Anderson as International Director, Tim Heath as Development Director and Valerie Anderson as Office Administrator.
Ariel Mahilum, founder of TCM’s work in Cambodia, writes, “Memories flooded over us as we celebrated the 8th Anniversary of TCM's work in Cambodia. This year’s celebration was unique because our speaker was a Cambodian Grace believer, Rathy Cheng. Youth and adults from Takeo and Siem Reap provinces joined guests in Phnom Penh for the celebration of thanksgiving to God for His faithfulness to the work in Cambodia through all these years. Our vision is to usher Cambodians into the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, and to plant missional and transformational Grace churches all over Cambodia and beyond. We are grateful for all your prayers and support for the ministry here. To God alone is the glory!”
Three of our missionary kids graduated this month. Andrea Maraat (pictured) lives in Thailand with her parents Genesis and Verna Maraat and brother Josiah. Andrea graduated from high school at Grace International School where she has attended since sixth grade. Andrea will enter Calvin College in August to study for a BS in Secondary Education-Biology. Keren and Kezia Improso lived in Kenya from 1996 until 2011 when they returned to the Philippines to get BS degrees in International Studies. They are now on a short trip to visit Kenya and look for jobs. Pray for our TCM missionary kids to do well in school and glorify God with their lives after school.
At the May 20th board meeting John Cook was accepted as a missionary candidate to Southeast Asia. John is passionate about reaching Chinese people with the gospel. John accepted Christ as Savior in the Altoona Bible Church in Pennsylvania. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Grace Bible College and a Master’s degree from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. After working with Pat and Michelle Kilgo for one month John felt called to partner with them. He is currently traveling on deputation in preparation for a December 2015 departure. Reaching the lost and teaching the Bible to church members and pastors will be John’s main ministry focus. Read John's bio.
Sheba Padayhag writes, "Here are the memories from the successful Youth Camp 2015. With the theme: "Grace Gladiators" (Ephesians 6:10-20). Held last April 2-4 at Magalies Retreat Centre, Magaliesburg, South Africa. Comprised of 36 campers, 7 staff and 2 kids (Shedea & Shedesh). Praise GOD for the 16 youth who got saved while the rest confirmed their salvation. Thank you to the donors and to our volunteer staff. Thank you to the parents who entrusted us their children for the duration of the camp. Thank you to the churches of ABGMSA and everyone around the world who prayed along with us."
TCM is so grateful to the Lord for blessing her with 14 new churches planted from April 2014 to March 2015 in various places in the Philippine islands! From April 2012 to March 2015, God has blessed the TCM ministry in the Philippines with 59 new churches. This means that we are only short of 56 churches more to reach our five-year goal of 115 by 2017. Let’s continue praying, working, supporting, and believing that God will honor our prayers to reach the goal, or even overshoot the target before holding our thanksgiving conference in 2018! (Recent survey shows that TCM-Philippines has now a total of 497 churches spread out in the big islands of Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao. Indeed, God is so faithful and gracious!
Every year the Philippine TCM Grace Church hold their Grace National Annual Conference. This year the venue was in Zamboanga, a city in southwest Mindanao. In spite of the threat of rebels in the area, some 500 leaders and members attended the conference from around the Philippines. One hundred leaders started their Summit meeting on April 20 and the main conference was April 21-24. Seven men were ordained while 28 men and women graduates from the six Bible schools were accepted into the ministry. Missionary Gardner Improso attended the conference on behalf of TCM International and was a speaker during the Summit and also the opening night of the conference. Take a look at the Field Work presentation.
"What an incredible 12 weeks it has been!! So many churches, so many brothers & sisters, so many conferences and talks... and I'm still standing (and speaking!) by God's grace!! I have met so many wonderful people and had great opportunities to share what I will be doing in South East Asia for God's glory. It's so important to realise that what we do in faith comes out of a place of grace... NOT guilt! All that we do should be in LOVE because that it was reaches the heart of the broken and gives joy to those who are comforted by the Lord. 'Actions speak louder than words,' that is true, but there is great value and necessity in" More . . .
The Grace Gospel Churches of Myanmar celebrated their first anniversary on March 26-28. Pastor Kenneth Ling is the director of the churches and planned a weekend of activities. TCM-Cambodia missionary Ariel Mahilum is in Yangon to speak at the celebration, "Arrived in Yangon safe and sound and met Ptr. Kenneth and wife at the airport last night. Anniversary celebration will start tonight, one-full day seminar tomorrow and 2 more nights of sharing the Word. I will be speaking and teaching on 'Grow in Grace and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ'." The initial contact between TCM and Pastor Kenneth Ling came in 2011 through Henry & Lilly—a couple from Myanmar living in Indianapolis. Several ministry visits were conducted by Ben Anderson, Tim Heath, Nathan Killion and Genesis Maraat. Pray that the gospel of God's grace will continue to impact this diverse land which has only recently opened to the outside world. Pictured are Pastor Kenneth and Eunice praying for a church member.
Pat Kilgo is in the Philippines to speak at the graduations at IGBI-Ozamis and IGBI-Tagum. International Grace Bible Institute began operating in 1959 and has now grown to six campuses located throughout the Philippines. Pat is also speaking at the Grace Professionals of the Philippines organization. Pastor Cadelina is Pat's traveling companion and reports that 36 ministry students graduated from the two Bible schools. Although their vehicle was broken into and Pat lost all his clothes, they were able to maintain their busy schedule on the island of Mindanao until April 10.
From missionary Luz Gaddi: Thank you very much for your prayers and support on our mission to Uganda. Maureen and her daughter traveled with me from Kisumu and were able to reach out to the Ugandan youth. Praise God at least 10 youth will attend the Kisumu, Kenya conference in August 2015. The plan to have an inter-church youth conference between Uganda and Kenya will one day be a reality. To say the least the members were happy to meet us. We conducted Bible studies and visited homes. Often we went to the guest house past 10:00pm. Sunday Maureen taught SS and Pastor Philip asked me to deliver the message. The church was full. After the service we met the women for an hour. Read Luz's newsletter.
Philippine Grace Church leaders are planning a Grand Thanksgiving Celebration in 2016 for God’s blessing of 100 churches planted in Negros, including Panay Island. Latest reports confirmed that there are now 98 TCM churches in the Negros provinces, including Iloilo in Panay Island (Negros Oriental, 48; Negros Occidental, 48; and Iloilo, 2). Please continue praying for our co-workers from these two big islands as they work together in planting more churches to overshoot the target before the Grand Thanksgiving Celebration in 2016.
Missionary children receive their education in many different ways including homeschooling, day schools and missionary kid schools. These schools always have a need for teachers and administrators. Often these are volunteer positions although some schools provide housing for their teachers. If you are interested in teaching missionary kids overseas, please contact TCM as we have heard of several positions available including at Grace International School in Chiang Mai, Thailand. MK teachers not only have a lifetime impact on the MKs, but also have opportunities to minister to the people around the school.
TCM's newest missionary is from London, England and is on deputation in the US for four months. Julia writes, "It has only been 4 weeks and yet I feel as though I have been here for months! So far I have been to Mobile, Alabama; New Orleans; Florida- East and West coast; Indianapolis, Indiana and Olney, Illinois! Take a breath! I'm currently based in Indy at Things to Come Mission Head Quarters! I have begun an online theology course which I'm really enjoying and this week I have my Orientation too." Pray for Julia Liles as she prepares for serving in Southeast Asia. More . . .
Director Ben Anderson will be teaching an intensive class on the Theology of Mission at the Berean Bible Institute from January 12-15. Topics will include God’s overarching purpose of creating a people in his image, the purpose of mission in the life and teachings of Paul for the dispensation of grace and the saving gospel that the world needs to hear today. One of the foundational points Ben makes is that the Bible is primarily a theology of mission—God’s mission to the world. Why not take a few evenings to be challenged by the Word in this essential purpose of our Christian lives?
On a cold December day in 1955, TCM founder and former missionary Herbert Palmer incorporated Things to Come Mission in the state of Colorado, with its headquarters at his home in Craig. His vision was to send dispensational Bible study literature to anyone who requested, as well as to reach the mountain towns of Colorado with the gospel. Little did he know that after teaming up with a group of students from Milwaukee Bible Institute that the mission would be instrumental in sending missionaries with the gospel of God’s grace to over a dozen countries, resulting in tens of thousands of souls won for Christ, hundreds of churches plus radio programs, translation and printing ministries and numerous Bible schools and training programs. Although Pastor Palmer died in 1961, his life work is giving an ever greater return on investment. Join with us in celebrating our 60th year of proclaiming the wonderful grace of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth! May you truly have a Happy New Year 2015 by making our Lord the center of your daily walk.
One of our veteran TCM missionaries is Miss Luz Gaddi of the Philippines. She graduated from TCM’s International Grace Bible Institute and served as a Bible Woman for many years before taking a graduate teaching job in Jakarta, Indonesia and working with TCM-Indonesia. After 22 years she asked to become a missionary in Africa, working first in Uganda and then Kenya. After a 3-month furlough in Philippines Luz moved to Kisumu on the shores of Lake Victoria two months ago. She writes, “Here in Kisumu the youth and women are active. We are gathering food to help a young widow who lost her husband, only 35 years old with four small kids.” Luz is also making plans to visit the churches in Eldoret and Kampala, Uganda.
Pastor Kenneth & Eunice Ling wrote about their Myanmar Grace Gospel Churches, "I would like to say thank you for your love and participation in the mission work here in Myanmar. We do very much appreciate for your Love and Concern for us and it is really great value for us and for the mission work here in Myanmar. As you pray for us, God has blessed and now Myanmar Grace Gospel has six mission fields, 11 Bible Students and 16 Orphan Children. MGGC also praying for you." Nathan Killion and Tim Heath recently visited Myanmar for one week of training leaders for the churches.
One of Pastor Jun Cadelina's ministries is evangelism among the Manobo trible of Mindanao in the Philippines. This is a rugged trip of many hours on dirt and rock roads. Often Pastor Jun's 4WD van breaks down and he completes the journey by motorcycle--six people on one--or even barefoot to cross the rivers. Pastor Jun explains, "Incantation or dancing to evil spirits during rituals are still common in that place as a pastor told us. Communist rebels are still many in the area armed with high-powered guns. We were warned not to take pictures." Praise the Lord that on his last trip, 80 people trusted in Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Joel McGarvey, director of Bible Doctrines to Live By, also serves as the president of the TCM board. He and his wife Susan have been invited to speak at the Annual Conference of the Grace churches in South Africa on Dec. 5-7 in Johannesburg. Besides the conference, the McGarveys are meeting with the national leaders Steve Thobela, Kennedy Mandaza and William Mdluli and speaking at several of the Grace churches, including Tshepisong which has an ongoing building project. Dean & Sheba Padayhag, who just arrived back in South Africa themselves, are hosting Joel & Susan for their two weeks.
Joe & Michelle Campos moved to Recife in northeast Brazil to resume their missionary ministry. The past three years they have lived in Grand Rapids where Joe was the director of Prison Mission Association. Their three younger children, Jessica, Nathan and Bella, have returned with them while Elly has started her first year at Grace Bible Church in Grand Rapids, MI. Joe will be working with the established Grace churches while also training church planters. Michelle will continue with the Project ABBA and Awana ministries while assisting their children with home schooling. The Camposes join veteran missionaries Doug & Vicki LeFeber.
Director Ben & Joyce Anderson returned from three weeks of ministry in Brazil on November 4. The main invitation came from the Grace churches in southern Brazil to speak at their annual conference in Indaial. Besides meeting with TCM missionaries Gomer & Nene Indino and Doug & Vicki LeFeber, the Andersons were able to meet with pastors and speak in churches in Parana, Santa Catarina, Aracaju and Recife. A highlight of the journey was the Grace Summit held in Shangri-la on the southern coast. Representatives of all th Grace organizations met for a time of fellowship, teaching and vision casting. To cement their desire for cooperation, the Summit formed a committee of five to plan for future meetings and cooperative ministries.
Dean & Sheba together with Shedea and Shedesh have returned to South Africa on October 29. During their four months of deputation in the United States they traveled 23,000 miles and visited churches and believers in 30 states. Their trip was not uneventful, with a car accident in California and a robbery upon returning to Johannesburg. The Padayhags express their appreciation for the many people who hosted and encouraged them during the journey. Dean & Sheba are busy with the Bible school, opening a new church and preparing for the annual conference in early December.
Pastor Phillip Walendo of Kampala, Uganda traveled to Kenya in October to participate in a training seminar conducted by leaders of the Grace Bible Churches of Kenya. He was joined by Pastor John Ekaliban of the Turkana for an intensive week of training on doctrinal and practical topics for pastors. Teachers were Pastor Stanley Mwangi, missionary Gardner Improso and Kenya Director Titus Kivilu. Pastor Phillip summarized his training, “With all the above topics we covered I am greatly transformed and I got a lot of courage because all my questions about Grace Ministry were answered by the facilitators. My major ambition after the training is teaching other people and opening a new church in Uganda.” Read Pastor Phillip's report.
Praise the Lord for the 501 people who professed to receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and thousands more were exposed to the Gospel in the Philippines. This is the result of eight days of evangelistic meetings conducted by Pastors Jun Cadelina, Pete Alip and PonPon Ayop, Jr. where they visited the remote, mountainous areas of South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat where Pastor Jun and Corah Maglasang work. A letter and pictures from Pastor Cadelina...
Missionary Pat Kilgo has written an article for the Berean Searchlight about the disagreement between Apostle Paul and Barnabas about John Mark before their second missionary journey. The article explains how their different perspectives came about and then shows how God used each individual to accomplish his mission. Pat closes with a challenge, “Are you like Paul—driven, results-oriented, industrious, resilient, always forging ahead? Or are you like Barnabas—reflective, nurturing, sympathetic, forward-thinking, patient, willing to be hurt for someone you love? Either way, that’s great! You are who God made you to be, and He will work out His purpose through you even if others oppose your methods.”
Ancestor’s Day is a week long religious festival where families visit the temples to offer food and gifts to their dead relatives. Reincarnation is an important part of Buddhism and this ritual is meant to create good karma for a better next life. Team Cambodia offered an alternative to the children in Takeo Province by holding Vacation Bible School with the theme “Building Up the Church.” While many children went to the temple, fourteen children attended the three-day Bible school classes and learned about Jesus Christ who is the light of the World. Myra Omictin writes, “We are so thankful for the volunteers (missionaries and locals) for their support.” There are still 11,000 Cambodian villages without a church. Pictures . . .
This year Pastor Kenneth and his Myanmar team have established four grace churches and with this growth comes a need for training Bible teachers and developing leaders to reach this predominately Buddhist country with the good news of Jesus Christ. Tim Heath and Nathan Killion are responding to this need by traveling October 7-13 to the major city of Yangon to teach leaders of the newly established Grace Gospel Churches of Myanmar. Please pray for this trip and the growth of this field.
After a 3-month furlough in the Philippines, missionary Luz Gaddi is returning again to serve in Kenya, but this time to the Lake Victoria city of Kisumu in western Kenya. Last term Luz served in Mombasa on the Indian Ocean and Nakuru in the Great Rift Valley. In Kisumu, Luz will be training Sunday School teachers, organizing the women’s ministry and assisting the pastors in Kisumu and the surrounding area. The Kenya National Conference will be held in Kisumu in August 2015 and there is much work to done in preparation. Please keep Luz in your prayers for safety as she travels and hearts open to will of God.
One of the services that TCM provides for our missionaries is a vehicle to use on deputation. When the missionaries arrive in Indianapolis from the field, they have a clean, insured and fueled car ready to go. Some missionaries virtually live in the car while they travel across the country visiting supporters and speaking in churches. The 1998 Buck LeSabre which Padayhags were using had just 86,000 miles on it when donated by a friend in Portland, Oregon. It now has 218,000 miles and has crossed the country several times. Because of its mileage and the severity of the damage, we will not repair the Buick--which leaves TCM one missionary car short. If this is an area where you can help out the missionaries, please contact the TCM office or send a gift designated “Missionary Car.”
We praise the Lord that Dean & Sheba Padayhag together with Shedea and Shedesh are safe after they were sideswiped by a box truck on I-215 in Riverside, California. Shedesh has some minor glass cuts but the family is doing well. Missionaries often drive over 5000 each month while on deputation which exposes them to all the dangers of long distance driving. We are thankful that the body of Christ in Riverside and San Diego helped the Padayhags during this time of need. They have rented a car and are continuing their journey up the west coast to Grants Pass where they will begin a month of missionary conferences.
The EXITE team of 23 Americans, mostly young people, served the Lord in the Philippines on June 30 - July 14, 2014. They were able to help 4 churches on the island of Leyte rebuild from the destruction of Typhoon Haiyan. They also ministered to the Filipinos through Kids Clubs and Evangelistic Crusades. The team is thankful for all the prayers and support while they were in the Philippines. They were able to raise over $10,000 to assist the damaged areas. Field Director Jun Pielago writes, "Thank you, U.S. EXITE Team, for your hard work in helping rebuild four of our typhoon-damaged church buildings in Leyte! "Your labor is not in vain in the Lord!" Team member Ben Lange has posted a video.
Although all believers are ambassadors of Christ, not all are called to be cross-cultural missionaries. TCM is excited to introduce Julia Liles from London, England as our newest missionary. Julia's parents taught her the grace message at a young age at their home in London. While Julia was completing her bachelor's degree she trusted in Christ and began seeking God's will for her life. During Africa Safari 2009 in Kenya Julia received the call to be a missionary and graduated in May from the two-year missionary training program at All Nations College near London. After several short trips to India and Southeast Asia Julia is confident that God is guiding her to serve in Southeast Asia. In January 2015 she will travel to the United States for four months of deputation before
going to the field.
At our recently concluded board meeting Pauline Watkins was assigned as a missionary to the TCM home office. Pauline is one of the founders of TCM together with her late husband Joe Watkins. After 29 years of missionary work in the Philippines, in 1987 she and Joe moved back to the office which was then in Cope, Colorado. Currently, Pauline picks up the mail, enters donations and addresses, communicates with missionaries, keeps the missionary apartment ready and helps with the banking. Her coworkers are Ben & Joyce Anderson, Cindy LaVier and Darlene Anderson. The whole TCM team is blessed to have this faithful woman of God standing with us.
Between the Kenya ministry in the highlands and the churches on the Coast there is a stretch of 300 kilometers where Grace Bible Church does not work. Recently the Coast pastors under the leadership of Pastor Peter Kagwi met to discuss how to reach Voi, the largest town in that area with a population of 45,843. They decided to form the Voi mission consisting of five leaders from Mombasa. They will conduct a survey trip on Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, 2014. The plan is for Pastor Patrick Kilei, who is currently studying at the Bible school, to move to Voi with his wife and two children in 2015 to start a “Grace Preaching Point.”
Please remember in prayer the TCM board that meets today through tomorrow, that wise decisions will be made that will have eternal benefits. Among the items on the agenda is an interview with a new missionary candidate, and a report from the Padayhags, missionaries to South Africa. Ben Anderson and Don Sommer will be joined by four board members who are coming from out-of-state: Doug Cox, Joel McGarvey, Dick Ware, and Tim Board. Jesse Vaught will be unable to attend because of the recent birth of his son, Judah Luke.
Director Ben & Joyce Anderson drove to a farm in South Dakota on September 4-7 at the invitation of Pastor Joel Finck. TCM board member Tim Board and Ben were speakers at the conference together with Joel and others. Joyce writes, “We had a wonderful time at the Grace Family Conference and met up with Tim and Lori Board and family, and William and Donna Lange and Ben from AL. Ben Lange was on the EXITE trip to the Philippines and gave a good report of their assistance for the Typhoon Haiyan victims. Tim and son Timmy Board manned the TCM display. We were able to talk to several people about mission and their response.”
Applying for visas can be a long and complicated process which missionaries must deal with throughout their years of ministry. We praise the Lord for this news from Pat & Michelle Kilgo, “It took years of planning, 7 trips to the immigration office, 70+ man-hours, overcoming numerous clerical errors and system failures, and more headaches than we care to remember, but ... today we received the last of our visa passes to stay here! We know that many of you have been praying for this day, some of you for more than two years. THANK YOU! We thank The Lord for His faithfulness to our family. It is certainly a great big weight off of our shoulders.”
Field Director Jun Pielago writes, “Our six TCM Bible schools (including two Bible training centers in Negros) have a total enrollment of 203 students for this school year. Breakdown of enrollment is as follows: NGBTC, Tambo, Ayungon, Neg. Oriental – 8; NGBTC, Kabankalan City – 14; IGBI-Cauayan City Campus – 16; IGBI-Bataan Campus – 27; IGBI-Ozamiz City Campus – 54; IGBI-Tagum City Campus – 84. Out of the 203 enrollees, 37 are graduating in March 2015. Please pray for the faculty members of these schools that God would give them wisdom as they train the students for the ministry. Pray also for the students’ need of finances.” These are the students who will in the future care for the many new Grace churches being planted.
Apostle Paul writes, “Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity” (2 Cor. 8:2). What a blessing, then, to hear from Kenya Director Titus Kivilu. “Dear Brother Ben, After hearing and reading about the devastating destruction caused by the deadly typhoon in Philippines in November including TCM churches and believers, we requested believers from Grace Bible Church-Kenya to give a voluntary donation to share the grief and hurt with our fellow brethren in Philippines. We were deeply touched by what our fellow brethren went through during that time. The Kenya churches have contributed a small donation of Ksh 20,000 ($250) to assist them in mending the damages caused by the typhoon especially in the churches in the affected areas.”
Pastor Peter Kagwi heads up the Grace ministry along the Kenya coast. He writes, “At the main school in Mikindani I have three different classes which meet on different days weekly. The total hours per main class is 9. At the 4 distance training centers, I only train on Saturdays except the Tana Delta where I go for one week because it is so far. Praise the Lord that this week we launched a new training center at West-Coast of Mombasa. On Sat. 23rd Aug., six students enrolled and the intake is in progress until 6th Sep. when the official classes will begin. Pastor Jackson Tsuma from Kaloleni will be the coordinator of the new center. He is a graduate of BGSM and a very active pastor.”
Pastor Kenneth Ling has had a busy summer conducting salvation camps in three diffferent area of Myanmar. He writes, “Pastor Mawia, Peter and I are very busy visiting our new church. The past Water Festival we held Salvation Camps at three places with 40 campers at each. Seven people confessed that they accept Jesus Christ as their own personal Lord and Savior. We praise God for His wonderful guidance and blessings through the camp. All these are the answers of your prayer and the fruits of your hard-work. God hears our prayer. Please continue to pray for Myanmar. I send you some pictures of Church Dedication and our Salvation Camp.”

Hearts were full of tears and laughter at the Memorial Service held Saturday, June 21st, as family and friends honored Joe's faithful life as Dad and Missionary from 1956-2014. All remembered Joe's love for the Philippines and Filipinos. Daily he kept in touch via Skype calls and Facebook for the recent news. Though living in USA, he and Pauline never forgot their active life and work establishing International Grace Bible Institute , printing gospel literature, and founding the first Grace church in Cebu City. Their dining table was always surrounded by visiting workers for the Lord. We do well to rejoice in Joe's works well done.
Dean & Sheba Padayhag with Shedea and Shedesh have received their US visas for a deputation visit to the United States from July through October. They are preparing their ministry in South Africa for the time during which they will be gone. Sheba writes, "It's going to be a very busy 3 weeks before we leave. We are printing and binding the Bible school textbooks for June through November. Dean has a seminar in Kgabalatsane, which is part 2 of last month's seminar. This is an outreach to start a church in that area coordinated by Pastor William Mdluli."
In the 23 Ministry Districts in the Philippines, 23 more new churches plants were established from January 2013 to March 2014. Total congregations now number 465 with many new workers and IGBI four-year graduates coming up during the recent Annual Conference, ready for service from north to south in this island nation. What a blessing from the Lord - a good reason to rejoice in Him, indeed! The goal is for each district to plant one new church each year for the next five years = REPRODUCTION! Seven young people accepted Jesus Christ on the first night of youth camp in South Africa. This year's theme, The Amazing Race, was based on Hebrews 12:1-2 and 2 Timothy 4:7-8, and was three full days of activities with the 34 campers grouped into six teams using the parts of God's armor as their team names. The National Organization of Grace Berean Youth (NOGBY) conducts these annual camps for the spiritual and practical life-changing experiences of the youth from several areas of the country and was led this year by Dean and Sheba Padayhag along with dedicated graduates and 2nd year students of Grace Berean Bible School.
Please pray for everyone who is working in countries where visas are only given short-term. Asia is the continent with countries that have the greatest need for a gospel presentation and where the fewest missionaries live. Missionaries must leave the country in which they work several times a year in order to have their visas renewed. This is a hardship and expense. TCM praises God for his wonderful provision so far. However, Genesis Maraat writes: Please continue to pray for our visas. We have not received in our hands the approval from the Ministry of Religion yet. Once we get the approval paper then we will go to the immigration. Our current visa will expire May 17. The visas are really expensive for the whole family. But there is nothing we can do with the expense because everyone pays for a religious visa." They cannot get a visa renewal without the government permits and these can be delayed indefinitely. There is a late penalty fee charged daily! Genesis and Verna Maraat have a current newsletter you can read here.
Joe and Michelle Campos and their family are six months away from returning to Brazil in October and busy with traveling, visiting churches, raising the last amount for their monthly budget and helping the kids finish up this year of school before heading back to a different system in the fall. They value your prayers for this time as they navigate across the USA to churches and home’s of people. It is a time to reconnect with many who are joining their ministry team through prayer and financial support. The Campos newsletter was sent out yesterday.
"Getting Ready to Go!" sounds like something every missionary says often. For Pat and Michelle Kilgo and family it is especially true. They are leaving May 7 for a SE Asia country. Pat recently wrote, "Please pray for our preparations. We made a list of things to do a mile long today..." As the Kilgo family begins a new life and ministry, please follow them with your prayers for a bountiful harvest as they seek to share the gospel with receptive people, and to plant their first grace church. Pray for suitable housing, and their four kids as they have busy schedules this summer and a new school to adjust to in the fall.
In many countries around the world a person lives their entire life without once hearing a gospel presentation. However, the tragic reality is that many in the United States have never heard the gospel even once. Bob and Beth Xavier have been ministering to kids who would otherwise fall into this category. To address this need, for the past 13 years they have been privileged to develop, direct and instruct the Grace Martial Arts Bible Club classes in the Greater Tampa Bay area, and to minister throughout each week to nearly 250 children and teens. Most of these students with whom they work never before have read the Bible, memorized Scripture, heard a Gospel challenge or received Christ Jesus as Savior. Please read the Xavier’s current newsletter and pray for this important ministry.
“We have a vision to plant 20 churches in 20 strategic places by 2020,” writes Dean Padayhag. This is exciting news coming from Dean and Sheba who are encouraged that many in their South African field are committed to evangelism, planting new churches and training future leaders. Eight new pastors, ordinary church members and Bible school students are training and being trained for this mission and 20/20 vision. To learn more how to knowledgeably pray for this growing church planting ministry, read Padayhag’s April newsletter.
Sixteen young men and women came forward at the end of the last message of the National Grace Youth conference in Davao City, Philippines to acknowledge their desire and commitment to take the gospel to the unreached beyond the borders of their own country. Missionary Nathan Killion gave the closing challenge to over 300 young people who came from across the country to attend the four-day conference with the theme, Status: In a Relationship with God.
Nathan writes, "God is good! Let's keep praying that the Lord of the harvest will send out these and others as workers into His harvest."
"Pastor James and Agape Bermejo at Valenzuela City church in Manila invited me to teach SS and church. In the afternoon they had an hour of evangelism for which they had prepared and practiced for two months. They divided us into six groups and I was with the group which stayed in the church and prayed for the others. Men, women and youth were involved. After one hour the groups came back and reported. Thirteen people accepted Christ as Savior! I was quite amazed. They got the contact info for everyone and will follow up this week and invite them to church on Sunday. James and Agape are very active and I am praying they will be TCM missionaries," Ben wrote on his second day in the Philippines.
Kenya Coast Ministry Centre of Mombasa, Kenya is about to have its own home. Pastor Peter Kagwi and Director Titus Kivilu met with the seller of the land. Together they confirmed the papers at the county offices. Next day the surveyor came to show them the beacons and do the subdivision. Because of generous donors from the States, all the money was raised and sent and the transfer of ownership of the property is nearly completed. To learn about God’s work in Mombasa, read the Coast Ministry report for Kenya.
“Today after the service the church members and national Director Titus went and prayed together at our proposed piece of property. Everyone is excited with what the Lord is doing,” writes Pastor Peter.
As you read the travel schedule for Ben Anderson, please remember him and the people he is ministering to in SE Asia. Your prayers can make a difference in bringing about God's will in encouraging the ministers in these countries to be burdened and bold for spreading the gospel.
Leaving tomorrow for 7 weeks of international ministry: April 11-27 in the Philippines; April 28 to May 7 in North Indonesia; May 8-11 in Dubai, UAE; May 12-13 in Jakarta, Indonesia; May 14-15 in Singapore and May 16-26 in Malaysia. My trip culminates with the 2nd SE Asia Grace Conference in Kuala Lumpur. Ministries include conferences, interviews, seminars, church meetings, church anniversaries, commissioning and planning meetings. May God give us wisdom to establish firm plans to engage the remaining four SE Asian countries where TCM does not yet work. I'll see some of you very soon. Thanks for your prayers! -Ben
Nine of the 23 TCM ministry districts in the Philippines planted 23 new churches from January 2013 to March 2014. This was recently reported by the supervising ministers of these districts. At last year’s conference in Manila, 20 new churches were reported planted from January 2012 to March 2013. With this 23 new churches this year, the total number of TCM Grace churches in the Philippines is now 465, from 442 last year. What a blessing from the Lord - a good reason to rejoice in Him, indeed! -Field Director Jun Pielago
Pastor Kenneth Ling has formed the Grace Gospel Churches of Myanmar and is visiting the churches which wish to join up. On March 23 he dedicated Pastor Hla Thaung's church. This month they will conduct three salvation camps where they will teach people about the Bible and salvation by grace through faith. Pray for Pastor Kenneth and the men and women who are working together to proclaim God's wonderful grace to the Burmese people. Pastor Kenneth & Eunice and two other pastors from Myanmar will be attending the Southeast Asia Grace Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Christ’s Disciples Church is a Pentecostal congregation located in Benoni, a couple of kilometers away from Modderbee Prison. Pastor Mpho Manyemane serves as the senior pastor of the church. Pastor Petros Dlamini, a new graduate of GBBS has been ministering to him with the Grace message. His desire to learn more and his hunger for truth made him decide to enroll at the Bible school. He shares his new found faith to his thriving congregation during prayer meetings and Sunday morning services. On March 22 he introduced Dean and Sheba to the congregation and asked Dean to teach about dispensations. Pastor Manyemane and his congregation have decided to affiliate with the Association of Berean Grace Ministries in South Africa (ABGMSA).
Forty leaders from different churches and ministries of the Association of Berean Grace Ministries in South Africa participated in a recently concluded 1st Leadership Summit. The historic event was held at Rocky Valley Christian Camp and Retreat Center on March 21-22. Positions, job descriptions, finances, local and national ministries were the prime topics of the lectures. Delegates were able to discuss, ask questions and share biblical and practical guidelines during the open forums. Physical exercises, mountain climbing, planting a cross at the summit and morning devotion near the clouds were life-transforming experiences to add on to the exciting seminar. A follow-up Church Growth Seminar will be held on May 1 in Kempton Park.
We praise God for the completion of the first Bible School building!! What a blessing it is for the Kenya Grace Bible Church ministry. I wish to convey deep appreciation and thanks first to the almighty God and to all His faithful servants who liberally gave donations toward this project through TCM. Special thanks to the TCM Executive Dir Ben Anderson for his tireless effort toward this valuable project. This first Bible School building provides an opportunity to start an advanced Bible School training, “Kenya Grace School of Ministry” which started in Feb. 2014 with training in advanced Bible Theology, Ministry and Leadership to church leaders and ministers. We have reserved one room for the Grace Bible Church national office. We are however requesting prayers and trusting God to provide for some few more facilities that we need to be able to accommodate the students during class modules for the advance training. -Director Titus Kivilu
“These young workers underwent four years of training for the ministry. The new graduates will join 600 pastors and Bible women who are already serving the Lord under various departments of the Mission. About 85 percent of TCM workers are involved in ministry activities in the field, while about 15 percent are involved in ministry activities through the various Mission departments: Field, Finance, IGBI (Bible schools), Radio, Youth, Missions, Literature, and Children.” -Field Director Jun Pielago, Philippines
The Indian Ocean coast of Kenya is 50% Muslim. For many decades the area has been peaceful. Recently, that has begun to change. Pastor Peter Kagwi, who plants Grace churches at the coast, reports, "Brethren, continue to pray for Mombasa and Christianity in general. The Devil is against the gospel being preached. Yesterday a church was attacked by terrorists who were armed with guns. They started shooting and six people are said to have been killed. One of them was the assistant pastor who was leading the worship service. About 15 people were seriously injured. Pray that God will bring peace and harmony within the region."
The one-week intensive training at Tana Delta-North Coast of Kenya kicked off with seven students plus one diploma graduate who actively taught. A special blessing was Yussuf, formerly Muslim and 'by religion only' a Christian who joyfully shouted out after studies: "This is the day of my salvation!" Yussuf plays guitar and sings with his wife and also drew dispensational charts for classwork. Peter is thankful for the camping tent provided for his use during study and rest times. Next intensive training is planned for 9th-15th June.
Missionary Luz Gaddi commends the Nakuru Church in Kenya for recently holding discussions about how members can discover their talents and then deploy them in ministry. Luz continues traveling extensively, bouncing over the potholes in the roads, to teach the importance of the Christian Home in 1-3 day seminars at Kisumu, Nakuru, and Dandora, Nairobi. Pastor Stanley expressed his joy to meet a missionary focusing on helping Kenyan leaders to see the benefits of reaching out to their children and youth through lessons from Scripture along with question & answer times. Tim & Judy Heath are ministering with Chinese people in Southeast Asia. A missionary must learn the culture of the people, and they were invited to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Tim explains this custom, “Chinese New Year (CNY) is an important traditional Chinese holiday celebrated at the turn of the Chinese calendar. Celebrations run from Chinese New Year's Eve, the last day of the last month of the Chinese calendar, to the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first month. CNY is a major holiday for the Chinese, celebrated with firecrackers and . . . More . . .
Is it Africa time? Ben & Joyce Anderson will be hosting the Africa Safari 2014 short mission trip to Kenya in East Africa. Our hosts in the country will be missionaries Gardner & Ledith Improso and Kenya Director Titus Kivilu. Our journey will take us to churches in the highlands of central Kenya, including Thika where our headquarters and Bible school are located. TCM congratulates Pastor Dwight Anderson on taking the directorship of Prison Mission Association (PMA). TCM and PMA have been cooperating in ministry for several decades. Our first contact in Kenya was an evangelist who was taking PMA Bible courses. Vernon & Darlene Anderson assisted PMA in setting up a Bible school and church planting program in Cameroon. The past two directors of PMA were former TCM missionaries: Don Sommer and Joe Campos. Dwight is well-qualified for his new role and we look forward to more partnership in taking the gospel of grace to the regions beyond. Dwight’s bio . . .
Tim Heath and Genesis Maraat are in Yangon, Myanmar for a week of teaching the leaders of the Grace Gospel Churches of Myanmar. Pastor Kenneth writes, “God is so good! 30 trainees join with us every day. We will have Church Dedication on Friday evening and the Lord's Supper on Sunday morning (2nd March). We are really excited to hear the real doctrine of our Grace Church.” Genesis reports, “Tim arrived on Saturday and immediately started teaching. He taught the whole day Monday. Today I taught the whole morning and part of the afternoon. We are excited for what God is doing here in Myanmar. We do really appreciate your prayers for the new TCM work in Myanmar. To the praise of the glory of His grace!” Nathan Killion and Ben Anderson taught the last seminar in October 2013.
Team Cambodia knows that the lives of the Cambodians are worthy of eternal life and they are actively being a light in two of the largest cities in this Buddhist country, the capital of Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. Please continue to pray for Pastor Ariel and Faith Mahilum and Myra Omictin in their plan to plant churches as they develop relationships, lead Bible studies and look for opportunities to share Jesus Christ. Read their current newsletters and make a commitment to pray for them.
On February 9th, the first Grace Church in Thailand held its first worship service. Genesis & Verna Maraat started praying for this church 12 years ago while serving in Kenya. In 2008 the Maraats and Killions moved to Chiang Mai and began learning the language and sharing the love of Christ. Genesis reports, “Thank you all for praying. It was indeed a historic beginning. Two years ago on the second week of February we started our house fellowship once a month. Last year we started meeting twice a month. Last Sunday was also the second Sunday of February and we started our Sunday worship. May Grace Church (คริสตจักร พระคุณ) - Sansai, Chiang Mai, Thailand continue to grow until the Rapture!”
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia will be the venue for the 2nd Southeast Asia Grace Conference to be held on May 22-26. Visitors are expected from at least a dozen countries in Southeast Asia and beyond. TCM has the stated goal of establishing a grace church in every country of SEA. Activities will include challenges from the Word, planning seminars, strategy discussions, fellowship and sight-seeing. Main speakers will be Nathan Killion (pioneering missionary to Thailand), Ariel Mahilum (leader of Team Cambodia), James Bermejo (church planter and pastor in Manila, Philippines) and Ben Anderson (director of TCM). All TCM missionaries from SEA will be present. Why not join us and make some new friends while learning about what God is doing in SEA? More . . .
Dean and Sheba have announced planting season in the South African field and everyone knows that means lots of work and long hours. Seven new churches have been targeted and the leaders will be commissioned on March 2. Please pray for this work that there will be a great harvest of people reached with the gospel, lives transformed and growing in love and good works, and that these churches will multiply across this vast African country. To read more about this church planting ministry, check out their latest prayer letter of January 2014.
People are signing up for a historic journey to the Philippines to assist with relief efforts in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Haiyan. Described as the most powerful storm ever recorded, Haiyan destroyed or damaged 21 of TCM's grace churches. We have already sent $20,000 for emergency relief and rebuilding efforts. Now you have a chance to get involved in person. The EXITE trip is a joint ministry between TCM, Grace Ministries International, Grace Gospel Fellowship and Grace Bible College. Designed primarily for high school through college students, EXITE will not only relieve the suffering of our Filipino brothers and sisters, but will allow God to speak to you through a new people and experience. Pastor Peter Kagwi heads up the Coast Grace Team headquartered in Mombasa, Kenya. He writes, “Our Bible School opened on 16th Jan. 2014. The training is in progress. The first week of February we shall have one week of intensive training for the newly founded Bible Training Centre at Tana River Delta. It is our prayer that this training will spread the gospel of the grace of God along the 333-mile Kenya coast.” Pastor Peter reports that 50 students have already been trained at least one year in the Berean Grace School of Ministries. TCM missionary kids in Thailand attend Grace International School in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Their recruiting coordinator writes, "I want you to know of the different staff openings that we have for our 2014-15 school year. It is amazing to see all of the different people that God sends to us each year. Right now we have many Thai and foreign staff working at our school who are talented and Christlike. I am very confident in God that this will continue in the years ahead. Here are some of our staff needs for next year. Taking 2-3 minutes right now to look at the whole list and pray for us would be such a huge help. And it would quiet your soul. :)" More...

Conference Registration Fee is P1,500.”
We are happy to welcome Joe & Michelle Campos and family back to active missionary status as of January 1, 2014. The Camposes have been on leave for two and a half years in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Joe has been serving as the Director of Prison Mission Association and Michelle has continued to be a leader of “Project Abba” in Recife. The Campos family will use 2014 for deputation with the plan of moving to Recife by the end of this year. In Brazil the Camposes will be working with the training of pastors/church planters, church planting and with "Project ABBA," the ministry they founded to serve underprivileged children. Their request, “We appreciate your prayers in our behalf and we hope to see some of you as we travel the country :)” More . . .
A heartfelt Happy New Year to all of our TCM friends. Apostle Paul wrote, “And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.” Our salvation is secure through our faith in Christ, yet we are still waiting for that great day when our redemption will be complete. Thank you for all that you do to proclaim the wonderful gospel of God’s grace to our generation. The world needs the Savior Jesus Christ now more than ever. Let us give of ourselves to make 2014 “the day of salvation” for those who have no hope.
Nathan & Jessica Killion are celebrating five years since they arrived in Chiang Mai, Thailand as new missionaries: We give thanks to the Lord for what He has done in and through us in this time. During the last five years, the Lord has helped us (1) adjust to Thai culture, (2) learn the Thai language, (3) understand how to best share the gospel with the Thai people, (4) build friendships and discover avenues for sharing our faith with Thai university students, (5) establish and help lead a Thai fellowship group. By the way, in February, this group will begin meeting weekly on Sunday mornings!
Deb Pielago, wife of TCM-Philippines Field Director Jun Pielago, has been experiencing severe hip and back pain. The doctors are preparing a complete hip replacement. Pastor Pielago writes: This week (Dec. 2-7) is a crucial week for Deb’s hip replacement operation. She was supposed to begin confinement yesterday at the Chong Hua Hospital here in Cebu City, but her doctor moved the date to Dec. 2, that is today. The pre-operation period will re-check her physical health condition before the actual surgery. The surgical operation could take place anytime from Dec. 3 to Dec. 5. We know you are praying. Thank you. God bless you!
December 10 Update from Pastor Jun Pielago:We are happy to inform you that Deb is now relieved from physical pains that she has been suffering from since 2011!
She is now home and normally recuperating from the surgery. The doctor and physical therapist carefully coached her on how to do proper exercises. Our God is truly great! He has used people and reminded us that He intervenes through medical science to effect maximum results in the surgery! We are overflowing with joy and gratefulness to the LORD for His super abounding grace and for using you and many of His people to pray, encourage, and share their hard-earned money for Deb’s very successful surgery!
Pastor Peter Kagwi has a busy December planned in Mombasa on the Indian Ocean coast of Kenya: The graduation for the Berean Grace School of Ministries the 6th of December. TCM Representative Gardner Improso will be the guest speaker. He will be accompanied by the Director Titus Kivilu and Chairman Samuel Mwangi of Grace Bible Church. The Coast Region Bible Conference will be on the 7th and 8th of December. Grace believers from the eight Coast Grace Churches are expected to attend. Our guest speakers are Pastor Titus Kivilu, Missionary Gardner Improso, and Pastor Samuel Mwangi.
"This number was distributed to TCM churches in northern Cebu (Tabogon, Sunog, Poro, and Villahermosa), Leyte (Palompon, Jordan, Lanipga, Hibulangan, Campurog, Matlang, Honan, Manticaa, and Ormoc City), Biliran Island, and Negros Occidental (Molocaboc Island) immediately after super typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan hit these areas. The distribution of assorted food items is Plan A of helping our typhoon-victim brethren. Under Plan B of the Mission’s leadership is the allocation of certain amount to help the repairs/reconstructions of the damaged church buildings. And Plan C may be also considered to extend little financial assistance for repairs of damaged houses of church members. Plans B and C will depend on the availability of funds. We are grateful to the Lord for the churches and members of the Cebu Ministry District who immediately responded to the call of distributing packs of assorted food items for our brethren who were then suffering from hunger. The Mission’s leadership is also grateful to the Lord for the financial assistance from the various concerned Grace local communities in the Philippines and individuals abroad." Pastor Pielago, Field Director
Pastor Titus Kivilu writes, "Today is our last day in Kigali-Rwanda. we are leaving tomorrow at 5.30am and will stop at Mbale in Uganda to visit a friend from Kenya. We are thankful to God for the opportunity to share love to the people here. Yesterday we visited two churches which are in the southern part of Rwanda. Eighteen people came to know Jesus Christ as their personal savior at the two meeting. Today we had very wonderful service in Grace Bible Church -Kigali which was filled with praises to God from believers for the opportunity to hear the word of God and especially learning th Grace message. I thank every one for keeping us in prayers"
House of Worship of the Grace Gospel Church of Christ in the island of Molocaboc, Sagay, Negros Occidental. This was destroyed by the recent super typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan last November 8, 2013. Attached are pictures of the church and pictures of the relief effort organized at the Grace Church in Carlock, Cebu City
This latest summarized report was gathered from the reports sent by TCM Supervising Ministers Ben Sausa (Leyte), Jessie Crescencio (Cebu), Ortes Condrillon (Southwestern Luzon), and Noel Sanchez (pastor of the GGCC, Molocaboc Island (Negros Occidental). The list is attached.
Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan has destroyed many properties in Leyte, Northern Cebu, Northern Negros, Northern Iloilo and part of Palawan. More than 2000 confirmed dead, more than 2000 were injured and many peoples' body are not yet retrieved. An estimated ten thousand lives were killed. On TV two municipal mayors cried for help for their people. Almost all Northern Leyte municipalities were destroyed. Many hospitals were closed due to no electricity and no medicines. No food, no electricity, destroyed bridges and roads. Looting is happening in some big stores in Tacloban City due to people's hunger, no shelter and no clothing, no water. Government's help was delayed in so many places. Good that a USA military ship has arrived from Japan to help distribute goods and help in the retrieval operations. Many international humanitarian communities have sent-in their help and personnel. I hope that it will reach the victims soon.
The Grace Pastors and Members no lives were lost but their properties and church buildings were destroyed. They lack food. Negros members in Molocaboc Island contacted me that the new church was destroyed as well as the houses of members. They just hope that many will help them. Until now only Cebu Church has sent help. Tonight Pastor Lamberte and member Elmer Mosquite will take a boat to take the goods to Tacloban City. The problem is that only 900 policemen were deployed there to help in the peace and order because the Leyte policemen themselves are in trauma with their family members being killed and some of their property destroyed. Yesterday, when I talked to Pastor Pielago he said as a problem they have is it is hard for them to reach the members because when they reach the port people are waiting there to be helped. Some people lost their good sense if they will not receive something. Hope that there is order now in the city.
The following churches (21 of them) and members of these churches are heavily suffering from the onslaught of Super Typhoon Haiyan: Tabogon, Poro, Sunog, Villahermosa (Cebu); Molocaboc 1 & 2 (Neg. Occidental); Lanipga, Jordan, Hibulangan, Camporog, Palompon, Matlang, Honan, Ormoc 1 & 2, Mahaplag, Bato, Anahawan, Canipaan, Tacloban (Leyte); and, Idupoy (Palawan).
As an initial move to help these suffering brethren, we are raising forty thousand pesos ($1000) until Sunday for 300 packs of assorted food items (rice, noodles, sardines, water), including used clothing, to be distributed to 300 families of the 20 affected churches in Cebu, Neg. Occidental, and Leyte. P10k is already on hand. The brethren of the Cebu City church in Carlock began sorting the supplies last night for delivery and distribution. We have circulated an appeal to individual members and churches here in the Philippines. Any amount is deeply appreciated to help our less fortunate brethren.
1. Tacloban City - church building totally damaged; houses of church members totally destroyed. 2. Molocaboc, Sagay, Neg. Occidental - church building totally damaged; houses of church members partially destroyed. 3. Idupoy, Algiceras, Cuyo Island, Palawan - church building severely damaged; houses of church members partially destroyed. 4. Houses of families of the following congregations were partially damaged: a. Tabogon, Cebu province; b. Anahawan, Southern Leyte; c. Canipaan, Hinunangan, Southern Leyte; d. Lanioga, Villaba, Leyte; e. Jordan, Villaba, Leyte; f. Palompon, Leyte; and, g. Ormoc city. About 35 families from these congregations were severely affected.
This report is only partial. We are doing our best here in Cebu to extend help. Two brothers from Cebu City are now prepared to bring assorted supplies of food for the brethren in Tacloban, but the main problem is how to get to the place of Pastor Gil Carangue. The group here in Cebu is holding a meeting tonight to finalize plans. Please continue praying. (Pastor Jun Pielago)
For many years Things to Come Mission has been receiving the majority of our missionaries from thriving Grace churches in the Philippines. Praise the Lord that they have now formed a mission department. Field Director Jun Pielago reports, "A planning group of seven members (Ruth Improso, Faith Mahilum, Gerson Bermejo, Ariel Mahilum, Ronnie Plale, Sr., Eufracio Pielago, Jr., and Francisco Sanchez, Jr.) met on October 11-12 to discuss the creation of a new department of TCM which would take concern of both home and foreign mission activities. Under this new department is a training school for missionary candidates. The department will be known as “Missions Department” and the training school – “Grace Theological Center for Missions (G-TCM). The proposal will be presented at the meeting of the TCM Board in Cagayan de Oro City on November 5-6 for approval."
Pray for the people who are suffering from the earthquake in the central Philippines. Field Director Jun Pielago writes, "Latest media report says the “7.2 magnitude earthquake smashed mainly Bohol and Cebu, toppling bridges, tearing down centuries-old churches and triggering landslides that engulfed homes . . . Death toll surpassed 150 and more than 3 million people were affected.” We are grateful to the Lord that none of our TCM members suffered casualty. Bohol Supervising Minister Vernon Batabat reports, "By the grace of God, the members texted that they are okay, including our churches." In Cebu City, however, the front and back portion of the walls of our church building in Carlock partly collapsed. Leaders of the Cebu church have asked an engineer to determine the present strength of the building structure to ensure safety for the members."
Director Titus Kivilu writes about the Africa Safari 2013 journey in July and August: "The Africa Safari Team 2013, though a small team did a credible work in both spiritual and physical ministries. Ben taught leaders seminars and preached uncountable messages in different churches and fellowships. Despite the hard cough that got him, his teachings and messages were so powerful and touching. Brandon and Van tirelessly and vigorously shared their testimonies, taught children and youth lessons in various churches. The Africa Safari also worked in Bible School roofing project in Thika carrying timbers to the site, sawing them and making the trusses for the roof. We praise God that the roofing is completed and are looking forward to finishing soon. Our visit to Amani Children home with the Africa Safaris in Nairobi gave us another big opportunity to serve by attending to vulnerable children. Thank you Ben, Van and Brandon for your love and sacrificial service!"
Director Ben Anderson reports: On October 21 I fly again to Southeast Asia. I'll begin with short visits to Singapore and Malaysia and then to Myanmar with Nathan Killion. This will be our second survey of Myanmar. Pray that on this trip we can establish some permanent plans and a strong working relationship with our new friends. Another highlight will be to take our newest missionary candidates, Maruli & Yokhe Marpaung from Indonesia, on an exposure trip to Laos and Cambodia as possible fields of service. I'll end with a ministry visit to Chiang Mai, Thailand where the Maraats and Killions are starting to see positive responses to the message of the gospel. Thank you for your prayers and partnership in what God is doing in SE Asia. I'll be back on November 15.
“Joyce Anderson’s Philippine visit was significant and vision-casting! Her heart is for Missions and her spirit for it is very contagious. Her three-week visit in September has stirred up many hearts of both young and old for Missions. The materials she prepared were Bible-centered and easily understood. The power point presentation on the ministries of the various TCM fields and target countries in Southeast Asia (Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam), Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, and Brazil was informative, well-illustrated, full of challenge, and stimulating! The cry for help to get involved in Missions (written by the missionaries representing different fields) was straight forward, challenging, and heart-moving. Joyce’s visit, however brief, has impacted many lives for Missions and is worth-doing again!” wrote Pastor Jun Pielago. Pictured are IGBI-Tagum students reading TCM's "Meet the Family" directory.
Kenya Director Titus Kivilu writes, “The churches in Kenya need to set their sight on the regions beyond. This is the truth and it is my prayer that in the very near future Grace Bible Church-Kenya will have matured enough to send missionaries out to the surrounding unreached countries. I am so much talking about outreach. The horrible incident that happened couple days ago in Nairobi at Westgate Mall where scores of people lost their lives, some of whom do not know Christ, increases our passion to reach the lost before they can meet the Lord. Let's be in prayer about reaching the north that God may open to us the door of opportunity.”
Pictured are Ben, Brandon, Van, Titus and Gardner
Kenya Director Titus Kivilu reports: Tonight Pastor Stanley and I are traveling to Kisumu to teach in the Grace Pastoral Training (GPT) classes. I'm excited to meet a new contact by the name of Silas Ochieng' from Chemilil who is interested in starting a Bible class in his place. I will have a special time to share the grace message with him. We will plan the way forward after our discussion. Put this in your prayer items that God will open this chance for the gospel to reach in this new place. Thanks for your prayers for the new church plant in Kiritiri. Pastor Hudson has a good building and he is doing evangelism every week and sending me encouraging reports.Church planting in Kiritiri, Kenya
We are happy to have the Africa Safari team back in the US after an extra week in Kenya, due to the fire at the international airport. Verna, Andrea and Josiah Maraat are back in Thailand to start the school year. Please continue to pray for Genesis as he stayed behind for 3 months. Ben Anderson arrives today from his trip to Kenya and Uganda.
Pastor Ariel, Faith & Pauline Mahilum are in the Philippines for their 3-month furlough. They bid goodbye to their flocks in Cambodia temporarily, of course, with heavy hearts. After six years in Phnom Penh, they felt God leading them to start planting a new church in Siem Reap (2nd largest Cambodian city). Myra Omictin, together with Pastor Srouch & Chhron, will
lead the ministries in capital city Phnom Penh and Takaeo Province in Mahilums' absence.
"Since July 23 exciting visits to four of 15 new Grace churches planted in two years. Brandon & Van (Safari 2013) made giant leaps in testimonies & Bible lessons, enjoying Kenyans' culture. They expected to leave Wednesday. Unfortunately, Nairobi Airport immigration/arrivals buildings were destroyed in a 4-hour blaze. Since it handles 60,000 passengers daily...chaos reigns. Titus & I fly to Uganda tomorrow to meet Grace believers with a full schedule prepared. Pray all will get sorted out, for God to be glorified in whatever part we complete despite chest congestion and coughing. God is good...all the time!" - Ben Anderson
Pastor Amirudin praises for two evangelistic and revival teaching successes with Team Grace Mission Ministry (team of 9 leaders including one blind and one midget). At Kolonodale (12 hrs travel from Palu) 20 finished the dispensational lessons. At Mayoa Pendolo (10 hrs) 1000 joined the two seminars: Totally Saved & Eternal Security in Christ Jesus. Hundreds received Jesus, including three Moslems. TCM core values are Evangelism, Church Planting and Leadership Training.
The Grace Bible Churches of Kenya will hold their 2013 Biennial Grace Conference on August 15-17 this year at the YMCA in Thika. Director Titus Kivilu writes, “This is a great opportunity for all grace believers to come together to worship the Lord, build up one another and replenish our souls with the Word of God centered on the theme “Fruitful Christian Life and Ministry.” We are blessed and honored to have the TCM-USA Exec. Director; Rev. Ben Anderson as our Main Guest Speaker.
On July 23, 2013, TCM Director Ben Anderson will head up the Africa Safari team as they go to Kenya, East Africa. Kenya Director Titus Kivilu writes, "The Africa Safari team will visit and minister in Meru Region, Embu, Thika and Nairobi. The ministries and activities include: Pastor’s seminars, working to complete the Bible School building in Thika, personal witnessing, children and youth ministries, Bible studies and fellowships. Our prayers are with them for safe travel and to be used of Him on their trip to Africa." The Safari team will return home on August 8, while Ben remains for the national conference.
Philippine Field Director Jun Pielago reports that 206 students are enrolled in the Philippine Bible schools for the 2013-2014 school year. He continues, "The following numbers of students have enrolled for the present schoolyear: Tagum City (Calixto Fermantes) – 95; Ozamiz (Noli Ongos) - 71; Bataan (Dan Banac) - 23; and Cauayan (Cecilio Blas) - 17. Out of this number, 49 interns are assigned in TCM churches ministering under the supervision of senior pastors. Every year IGBI graduates become recognized TCM pastors and Bible women during the national conference. The Negros Bible Training Center under Pastor Oseas Elentorio is on its second year of operation with 14 students. Please pray for the needs of our IGBI campuses with their directors, faculty members, and students."
Pastor Titus Kivilu, National Director of Grace Bible Church and his wife Jemimah have been very busy ministering with Pastor & Mrs. Peter in Mombasa. The Director helped in teaching in our Bible School every morning and each afternoon we visited at least one church. By the end of one week he managed to teach one short subject and visit all seven Grace Churches at the coast. His wife had a very productive moment of sharing with the Women of Grace Fellowship (WGF) in Mombasa. We thank God that the churches in this region had a good time of fellowship with our national leader.
Pastor Norsie Lanzaderas has just returned from his first ministry trip to Marinduque Island, a part of the Luzon group of islands, to plant Grace churches. Although TCM has had members living on this island for many years, in 2013 the Central Luzon churches made a project to support a church-planting effort. On June 17 they commissioned church planter Pastor Norsie and sent him off on a new motorcycle with their prayer and support. Lanzaderas reports, "Good news, we have started a worship service already last Sunday with 6 adults 3 young people and 8 children." He also reports of a second fellowship started in another town. Please pray for contacts, leaders and church supplies as this fledgling ministry takes off.
"We had a very blessed evangelistic mission and launching of Grace church at Gikoe Murang'a," Kenya Director Titus Kivilu writes. "There were souls saved every day in the three days we were there. The church was filled to capacity yesterday (though the hall is small). About 20 people from Gikoe attended and enjoyed worshiping and learning the Word of God together with us. Thank you for being with us in prayers."
"We are thankful for the privilege to serve our Lord in Thailand. We went to Thailand in May 2008 and God has opened doors for us to share the gospel to the Thai Buddhist. Our Grace English Center is going along very well. Children are coming to learn English and some few parents. University students are also coming. We are using “English” as a tool...
The Berean Bible Fellowship hosts a Bible conference in Cedar Lake, IN each year. This year TCM was well-represented by the Kilgo family (missionary candidates), the Maraat family (Thailand), Director Ben & Joyce Anderson, Joe & Pauline Watkins, Darlene Anderson and TCM President Doug & Sonja Cox. Besides enjoying fellowship within the TCM family, we met many new and old friends and were challenged by the action-oriented messages we heard. Former TCM missionary Ed Bedore was the daily Bible teacher and gave a stirring challenge about using the Grace message to evangelize the lost. Missionary candidate Pat Kilgo preached on the final morning of the conference.
Philippines Field Director Eufracio Pielago writes that 20 TCM Grace churches were planted between January 2012 and March 2013. He explains, "Each of these new churches has met the Mission’s criteria for a standard church, namely: membership of the group should have at least 15 members at least 18 years of age; the group should have regular weekly church services and has an organized set of officers." The Philippine churches set a goal in 2012 of planting 115 churches in five years to add to the 429 churches which were registered at that time. Both Pielago and Executive Director Gerson Bermejo have stated that this goal is very attainable.
“Knowing Christ” was the theme of this summer's VBS in Bai Pai village, Cambodia. Eighty-eight children and youth who attended were divided into 4 groups according to age level. For 3 days Team Cambodia explained that Jesus Christ is the only one who saves. They heard about the Lord's death, burial and resurrection. Please pray for these dear ones as they continue to learn about the living God that they will put their faith and trust in Him.
Our prayer in ministry is that the Word of God will always produce fruit in lives. Sometimes results take time. Director Titus writes from Kenya about a new church being planted 20 years after its new pastor first learned the grace message from studying the PMA Bible correspondence courses he received from Jessie Easterly. For more on this new church plant...
Jessie Easterly delighted us with a visit to the TCM home office for our Tuesday prayer meeting. Although Jessie and her late husband Herbert Palmer started the mission back in 1956 she had never seen the new headquarters and was praying she could make the trip out to Indianapolis. God answered her prayer and in May she traveled by train with her daughter Ruth Rickerby and spent five days with us.
On May 11 Nathan, Jessica, Matthias, Abby and Chloe packed up their earthly possessions, boarded Korean Airlines and made the long journey to Chiang Mai, Thailand. They were in the USA since September 1, 2012 visiting churches, friends and family to report on their ministry. Although they enjoyed their time stateside, the kids said they were ready to "go home." The Killions found their house in order except that the well had run dry due to drought. After two weeks of hauling water, they have running water again. The kids were able to get their visas extended. The Killions will continue to focus on the university students and staff while making their home a welcoming place for those who would like to know the salvation and love of Jesus Christ.
While Miss Kenn Omictin was attending the first Southeast Asia Grace Conference in Bali on May 2-5, 2012, she was challenged to contact all of her friends in Dubai and start a Grace Fellowship. By the end of May the group held their first meeting. Initially they had no pastor, but members volunteered to lead and teach the meetings. Some messages were even preached over Skype from other countries. The fellowship started in an apartment and has now moved to its own location. Pastor Robert Mandin was called to shepherd the flock. Today they are celebrating their first anniversary. Praise the Lord!
Pastor Peter Kagwi found many opportunities to share the gospel in the town of Lunga Lunga. While the majority of people in this place live in spiritual darkness, the Light of Christ shone as Peter and his companion communicated the gospel through word and deed. For more on this evangelistic trip...
The team reached four market centers in North Kenya to start five Grace fellowships in this unreached land of sand and sun. To read Pastor Titus' account see link
Pastor Sagrado Improso, Sr. transferred to Glory May 3rd following long illness and much faithful service. He served TCM since the early 70's as a pioneer worker in Bicol Region, Philippines., using radio and church planting. In the 80's he continued in Agusan Province, Mindanao adding new churches. His intense work included Supervising Minister, Board member, National Treasurer, directing TCM-RP Finance Department. The productive TCM rubber plantation was his "brainchild". His son is a TCM pastor and daughter a medical doctor serving in Cambodia and Philippines. Thank you, Pastor Sagrado, for your life of faithfulness! More
Director Titus writes from Kenya that he and Pastors Peter Kagwi, Justin Muriithis and David Anjenjo are in Turkana South ministering with Brother John Ekaliban on the establishing of the first grace church in this unreached area of the country. Together they are teaching a seminar to lay leaders on leading Bible studies, evangelism and encouraging fellowship. After prayerfully planning this ministry, the first service of Grace Church in Kenaodan will be held May 5. Please pray for the fruitful ministry of these servants that they will bear much fruit for God's glory.
Tim Heath is having a blessed time in the Philippines ministering through teaching. Each night for a week he spoke to nearly 300 young people who attended the annual youth conference with the theme, “Winning, Building, Sending.” He has taught and ministered to several groups including a marriage seminar. Please pray for Tim’s ministry as he finishes his visit and returns home this week.
Luz Gaddi is relocated to Nakuru after successfully completing a one-year Sunday school teacher training program in Mombasa. Pastor Peter Kagwi escorted her to her new ministry working with Pastor Justin and Grace Karuru. There are two churches in Nakuru and Luz divides her time between them as well as traveling to other churches. Luz held a one-day seminar for women where they were involved in active learning about Hannah and Peninah. Please pray for Luz and Grace as they teach Sunday school seminars in Eldoret and Nyahururu. Let there be a desire amongst her students to learn God's Word and teach it effectively. For more on Luz's ministry...
The “Vision 2020” focuses on planting 20 new churches by the year 2020. Five church plants are underway where pastors are witnessing and conducting Bible classes in preparing the way for growth. Pastor Peter Kagwi is opening a church in Lunga-Lunga, Pastor Kennedy Okundi in Nyamira, Pastor Timothy Matheka in Makima, Pastor Ezekiel Mwaniki in Runyenjes and Pastor Kenneth Muriungi in Marimanti. Ten new churches will be planted in 2013. Another church plant begins this month in an unreached area of Turkana where John Ekaliban requested TCM to bring the gospel and plant churches. Kivilu writes: “As we made the 2020 vision, we realized our pastors and churches have the potential to reach the whole of Kenya with the grace message by planting new churches.” Please pray for this pursuit.
Nineteen churches have been planted in the last year. Through the outreach of “TCM IMPACT: 7,725 & 115 By 2017” (7,725 new members and 115 new churches by 2017) people are being saved and growing in their faith through evangelism and establishing local churches. This means each new church has met the Mission criteria for a standard church: Membership of a minimum of 15 adults and young people, regular weekly services and an organized set of officers. Pastor Pielago writes: “We deeply appreciate your share in the great ministry of winning precious souls for Christ! We praise and thank the Lord for blessing the work through Things to Come Mission in the Philippines.”
Gomer Indino sent a complete report concerning the armed robbery they experienced while in Ponta Grossa on 3/28. Meetings for development of the ministry and a meal ended with hold-up men entering the restaurant, taking a new camera from Nene, wallet with documents from Gomer and threats to shoot Pastor Carlos Schmidt because he had no wallet. Fortunately, Gomer had placed Carlos money in another pocket and no one was hurt. Police rapidly arrived on call and ably recovered the wallet, documents, cellphone and even one thief. Indinos are thankful for your prayers.
Pastor Peter Kagwi, who planted nine churches on the coast of Kenya and started four Bible training centers, writes: "I have some good news. Yesterday, I had an appointment with the chaplain of Shimo La Tewa Prison in Mombasa. We had a good conversation and finally he permitted me to issue Bible Correspondence Courses to the prisoners. I left 20 sets of lessons of Highway of Life in Kiswahili and the Acts lessons. The chaplain also expressed the need for Bibles for the prisoners. " He writes that he would appreciate generous contributions that will help the prison ministry be effective and successful. You may contact the mission for further information. For more reports on what the Lord is doing in Mombasa, read, Coast Ministry Updates.

Tim and Judy Heath traveled from Malaysia to Nepal to share the gospel with a security guard they had made friends with while he worked at their apartment complex. The difficult trip was rewarded with their friend receiving Jesus Christ as his Savior. How Much Is a Soul Worth? is a report Judy Heath tells of their journey. How far are we willing to go and how much are we willing to endure to communicate the gospel to someone facing an eternity without Christ? Please pray for Nepal.
Greetings in Jesus' name. I hope you are having a blessed time this Easter reflecting on the matchless love of God that He showed by sending His only begotten son to die for our sins. I am pleased to send you the Grace Gazette with news of Grace Bible church- Kenya ministries. Thank you for your prayers and partnership to make the grace message known in Kenya. I wish you all a blessed Easter and may you experience that mighty power of God that raised Jesus from the dead working in your life.
In His service, Pastor Titus Kivilu GBC-Kenya Director
Violence was very evident in South Brazil on 3/28 as Gomer and Nene Indino faced gunmen demanding wallets, jewelry, VISA cards, all valuables, even threatening to kill their companion, Pastor Carlos Schmidt. Indinos recently returned from USA to continue working with MCP Grace churches and "Rede ao Mar" Youth Group along the Atlantic coast. See their March prayer letter. Gomer especially regrets the loss of his drivers license and camera. His call came to the TCM office quickly and new cards are being issued, but much prayer needs to be lifted up also for rapid recovery from the emotional and physical stress of armed robbery.
They are calling it the TCM Leaders Summit. Director Gerson Bermejo explains that participants are composed of Board of Trustees, Department Directors, National Coordinators, Supervising Ministers, Deputy Supervising Ministers, Consultants and Advisers and Lay Church Leaders. The April 21-23, summit meeting, held in Manila, will review the organizational structure of TCM, follow-up the five-year plans and goals of the Mission, review the Church planting programs, and discuss the newly formulated Administrative Manual. Pray for this summit that God will use the unity and the focus of the leaders to accomplish His purposes to see churches planted, equipped and trained to communicate the gospel throughout the Philippines and to the regions beyond.
TCM Director Ben Anderson is on his way to Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines. Activities will include planning meetings, leadership seminars, ministry reviews and several church visits. The trip will culminate in Manila with the 55th Annual Conference where TCM's first missionary Vernon Anderson will be remembered. Attendees will come from several countries. Ben will return on May 2.
Is God speaking to you about mission? Perhaps a short mission trip will help you hear God's call more clearly. Ben and Joyce Anderson are hosting Africa Safari to Kenya from July 24-August 7, 2013. You will have great opportunities to serve the Lord on a field with 45 Grace churches and 15 new church plants. Work alongside faithful missionaries, ministers, and members while building the Body of Christ. Enjoy the beauty of God's African creation while driving across the country in a Land Rover. More...
Learning dispensational truth on The Highway of Life, 25 lessons actually written for Sunday School years ago, presents life's journey on this earth starting with Adam & Eve in the Garden, passing all through OT history, continuing forward with Christ to the Cross and onto Gentile Byway where Apostle Paul preaches the truth of Grace as we know it today. These lessons brought thousands into Bible study when offered in Philippines churches using a large flannelgraph with Bible character figures. Mrs. Charles Baker permitted these lessons to be printed which opened truth into Indonesia, India, Brazil, Africa, using the Bible throughout, showing God's plan for all ages. First published in 1958 The Highway is now available in various languages via internet from Spain with Rob Vander Zee, http://badnewsgoodnews.net/english/home.php.
TCM missionary candidates Pat and Michelle Kilgo hosted the Killion family, TCM missionaries to Thailand, during the annual mission conference at Berean Bible Institute in Slinger, Wisconsin. Seven kids in the house was not quite enough, so they invited the Sadler family to visit. Eleven kids made for a fun-filled time. Pray for our missionary kids to do well in their studies and to grow and mature physically and spiritually. And, pray for our missionary families who strive to train up their children to know and love the Lord Jesus. Missionary kids have a vital role in effective ministry and outreach.
The Bible school of the Grace Bible Churches of Kenya is ready to start the final stage of their building project. Phase 4 will put on the roof, doors, and complete the interior finishing. This building will train pastors and church leaders and be the headquarters for the national work. Churches are being planted across the country and even in unreached areas. This building is needed more than ever for preparing men to pastor these new churches. See how much has been raised on the Projects page by clicking on the picture.
Team Cambodia has worked in Baipai Village for five years and has seen people come to know the Lord as their Savior and receive Bible training. This outreach extends to two surrounding villages and many have heard the gospel message for the first time. Last year God provided the property and the funds for building a deep well and toilets. The final project is raising the money for a fence and gate so that the property is secure. The desire is to have the fence built in time to hold the first youth camp in Cambodia. Please click on the picture to see how you can help finish this project and get the fence built before summer.
A middle-eastern believer travels to a convention. While sitting reading
his Bible, wearing an old USA-CANADA sweatshirt, he assists an old
man who has fallen nearby. The man begins asking all about the sweatshirt. Then he
asks, "What are you reading? Read to me also." As the young man reads chapter 53 of Isaiah,
suddenly the old man shouts, "That's it! When I read that chapter 40 years ago, I heard a voice telling me:
'Follow the one being offered for iniquities and bearing your sins and transgressions!'"
The old man had converted to Islam 40 years previously, but now believed in Christ as Savior.
He immediately phoned his family back home in Canada telling them he had found the truth.
The Word of God is powerful indeed!

The one desire of Pastor Maruli (Agus) & Yokhe Marpaung in Indonesia is to glorify God through surrendering their skills and talents to serving Him. In 2010 they traveled to South Sulawesi to rebuild the grace church that had been left without a pastor and was meeting in a rundown building. The members were invigorated by the arrival of this young couple, and their love for the Lord and each other began to grow. They raised the money, restored the church building, ministered to the various age groups, and the attendance has nearly doubled. They are now looking for new ways to be a testimony and light to their community. To read a further report from Pastor Maruli, click on the picture.
Team Cambodia missionaries are always looking for opportunities to share the gospel. Myra Omictin, Cambodian Pastor Srouch, and co-laborers, Elsa and Fe were given a good chance to visit new friends in Kampot province. They traveled with former students, Sophal and Lynet, who used to be English students in Baipai village. This team traveled for three hours in a rented van from the capital of Phnom Penh to follow up on this ministry contact. Please pray that this open door will lead to another ministry outlet. The Kenyan general election is in eleven days (March 4th). The last election in 2007 left 1000 dead and 600,000 without a home. There is great concern that tribal conflict will cause a high death toll. Missionary Luz Gaddi ask that everyone pray for peace and safety. Director Titus Kivilu writes, "Let's join hands in prayers that by God's power the elections will be peaceful free and fair and that God will intervene so we can elect leaders who will lead this country in a godly way. 'When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice: But when the wicked rule, the people groan -Proverbs 29:2'"
TCM wants to honor the memory of our dear Sister in Christ, Beverly
Sidebottom, wife of Eldred and mom of Daniel. Her health was failing for
some time, but now she has crossed over to the heavenly places. She and
Eldred took up TCM work in 1961-1990 starting at a card table in their
utility room. All of us are reminded of Bev's faithful service in the
TCM office on Cope's Main St. doing all the receipts and expenditures during
Eldred's directorship. And she used a pegboard, by hand! Her hospitality
and cheerfulness were enjoyed by the almost constant visitors passing
through Cope. Bev was always a good pastor's wife, pianist for services,
prayer partner, helper in all ways and we honor that service and know
how greatly her personal and TCM family misses her though thankful for
her assured place of blessing in Christ.
Winning souls for Jesus Christ has become a passion for the members of Valenzuela City Grace Gospel Church of Christ, Philippines. Thirteen people have responded to the gospel through the church's evangelism outreach this month. Pastor James Bermejo is leading his evangelism committee members in a two-week crusade in which they conduct a “religious survey” and use this opportunity to share the gospel of salvation. A second team is responsible for following up the new believers and the third team remains in the church to pray for responsive hearts. Bermejo and his follow-up team are preparing to teach and disciple the new believers. Pray for these endeavors as they continue communicating the words of life throughout the year, and for financial funding for producing gospel tracts.

During a recent visit, 150 youth came to worship together.
Training leaders is a rewarding part of Dean and Sheba Padayhag's ministry in South Africa and they continue equipping men and women during their home assignment in the Philippines. Please pray for the Padayhags as they are teaching a leadership training course called MAP (Ministerial Advancement Program). Ten elders and leaders participate every Sunday until the end of March in an interactive 4-hour doctrinal and ministerial class where they ask questions, discuss, report and practice the things they are learning. May the Lord use these leaders to lead others in the ministry.

Carlo & Elma Paña traveled to Pawel Lalem Amoru district in the north of Uganda about 2 hours from Gulu. This area is not secure and in 2004 a missionary couple was killed by rebels. The Pañas ministered in a church and orphanage while continuously preaching the gospel and answering theological questions. Although safe from bandits, Elma did come down with fever and chills. After treatment by a doctor in Kampala she is now almost recovered. Elma said, “God’s protection was amazing!” The Pañas have been in Uganda since 2004 and will make a trip to the U.S. for deputation in 2013. Their son Charael is working and attending college in the Philippines.

Pastor Peter Kagwi of Mombasa, Kenya was invited to speak at the Annual Conference of the Berean Grace Churches in South Africa. He reports, “The National Conference in S. Africa was very successful. The Lord encouraged me so much before, during and after the conference. The conference, which had the general theme "Faithfulness to the Call," had the impact of being faithful to the call of salvation and the call to service. I had a very good time with the newly appointed national director, Pastor William Mdluli of Soshanguve Grace Berean Church. It is my humble prayer that the Spirit of God will use the believers who received the word of God with gladness to be effective in serving our Lord faithfully.”
Typhoon “Pablo” as it is known in the Philippines has caused severe destruction on Mindanao island in the southern Philippines. Over 650 people are confirmed dead with over 900 still missing. Some 400,000 people have lost their homes. The town of New Bataan in the Compostela Valley has ceased to exist. TCM-Philippines Executive Director Gerson Bermejo writes of many churches and members suffering: “Our church building in the town of New Bataan, Compostela Valley was completely destroyed. There is a proposed church plant at Lunga-Lunga along the border of Tanzania and the Coastal region of Kenya. One of BGSM students moved to Lunga-Lunga where he bought a piece of land. Pastor Kagwi writes, “ I had a discussion with him during the regional leaders meeting this month. He shared concerning the new group that meets weekly for prayer and Bible study discussion. We have agreed to make a survey trip in early January next year. We are asking for your prayer so that we will be able to follow God's guidance and will for this projected plan for 2013.”
TCM-Philippines will conduct nine seminars from November 2012 to September 2013 under the TCM Workers’ Continuing Education Program in various strategic locations in the Philippines. These seminars expect to reach 500 TCM workers and lay church leaders to enroll in the Mission-recognized degree programs. These degree programs are designed for those who desire to enhance pastoral or other personal ministry skills with a focus in the area of church leadership. These degree programs are also complementary to the five-year church growth program of the Mission (2012-2017) which aims to PLANT 115 new churches. Hence, the “common cry” of the TCM Family in the Philippines for five years is: “TCM IMPACT: 7,725 & 115 BY 2017.” Read more on the Philippines page.
Pastor Morito Rebana, pioneer missionary in Panay Island, Philippines reports: "A medical mission was conducted in Lanot, Alimodian, Iloilo, Nov. 17 with free services of Dr. Ruth Improso and Dr. Hilda Viray. The new ministry in Barangay Guibaliwan, Kalibo, Aklan started Nov. 14 through the initiative of Pastor Maxdor Carillo. Ten individuals attended the first meeting and will meet again Dec. 14. We now need another worker for Kalibo." Two years ago Pastor Rebana began Bible studies among relatives in six different places in Iloilo. Last year a small congregation was formally organized in Lanot, Alimodian, now under care of Pastor Ed Padayhag. The new target area is Kalibo, a large municipality in Aklan Province. The vision is great! for Panay in Western Visayas, including three nearby provinces of Antique, Capiz and Guimaras.

Forty-three youth and adults professed Christ in Baungon, Bukidnon, Philippines, located at the foot of Mt. Kitanglad, home of the world’s largest flower, and extremely remote for driving. One bridge was not yet repaired from Typhoon Sendong last year. Another dam near Del Monte Pineapple Plantation was out, but the people were waiting patiently till Jun Cadelina’s team of four arrived. The villagers had no supper available so Jun offered them clean drinking water instead while the people excitedly watched the Megiddo and Jesus film videos.

On that Sunday of the graduation, the GBC Director requested me to preach in Rabour GBC which is the new daughter church of Kisumu. I preached to more than 20 adults in attendance.” Pastor Peter will speak at the South Africa Annual Conference in early December.
On Friday, TCM Director Ben Anderson preached in the worship service of the TCM Grace Fellowship in Dubai . . . while sitting in his dining room in Indianapolis. With the internet and Skype, the possibilities for getting the gospel into other countries is multiplying! And all of us who love the Lord must be ready to share the good news when possible. The faithful believers at the Fellowship in Dubai joined together after the Southeast Asia Grace Conference in Bali in May. The Omictin sisters went back and decided to call up their friends and start meeting together. The Fellowship is getting ready to look for a larger meeting place and call a tentmaker pastor.

She writes, "At my age I have a very long way to go before it can be mastered--no excuse for not trying even if sometimes one word is composed of 15 letters." Conferences, women's seminars and teaching fill up her schedule. and she notes a warmer love and renewed interest in the ministry.

GRACE MARTIAL ARTS missionary Bob Xavier reports:
Clubs and Camps were blessed. Every year we graduate high school students who become excellent Black Belt servant leaders. GMA is a dynamically powerful Christian ministry resource worldwide. Students and parents learn how to present the Gospel Bad News/Good News message to friends and family. See our power point at www.gracemartialarts.org. Other outreach materials are in development for DVD presentations.
“Back-to-Back Men’s and Women’s Conferences were successfully held at Life Hotels-Kempton Park on August 10-11. Twenty-five delegates attended the life and ministry changing events. Guest speakers, Ben and Joyce Anderson successfully communicated both personal and Biblical insights on how to become men and women of grace. Many of the delegates testified how the lessons and workshops on family and ministry changed their perspective and relationships. Others could hardly wait to see their families and church members to apply the things they learned from the conferences. Other enjoyable features were a bowling tournament for men and spa treatment for women. The success and benefits these conferences achieved will attract more to attend next year.” – Dean Padayhag

Team member, Jaclyn Logan writes, “On July 19 Vince and I had the amazing opportunity to join six other individuals on Africa Safari 2012. We spent two weeks visiting homes, churches and orphanages in seven towns in Kenya, East Africa. What a blessing to experience the joy and passion the Kenyans have for our Heavenly Father! They desire to truly spread the Gospel. Everyone went out of their way to help us. Pastors Titus Kivilu and Justin Karuru really helped us during our stay. Pastor Titus is Director of the work. He and Jemimah have sacrificed to do the Lord’s work in all areas of Kenya. Justin is the pastor of Grace Church Nakuru and he has such a heart for the Lord, that he is starting a second church in another area of Nakuru. One of the original members of Grace Bible Church in Kenya was Mr. John Kivilu Nzuki of Kiimani Village in Machakos District. Mr. Kivilu was saved in 1988 and donated a portion of his land for Grace Bible Church, which continues to this day. He also had a spiritual influence on his children with two of them attending Grace Bible School. His son, Pastor Titus Kivilu, is now the director of all the Grace Bible Churches in Kenya. When his father died in Thika on June 15, Titus wrote, "My father remained faithful to the end and was an instrumental tool for the proclamation of the grace gospel in Machakos." Missionary Gardner Improso preached on living for Christ at the funeral.
Missionary Ariel Mahilum writes, "We look back five years ago to when we
first started with only Pauline & Faith attending the first Sunday services.
Now we are rejoicing for 15 permanent members, almost 100 children, youth
and adults in the villages and one Cambodian pastor. How the work grew in
five years. Our God is so faithful. We are blessed to see His power, grace
and wisdom at work in every step: 3 churches, a parish Bible school, 3
English centers, a dynamic Team of TCM and Cambodian members, faithful
supporters locally and abroad. I am targeting a new city for church
planting: Siem Reap; Myra Omictin and Pastor Sorn Sruoch will continue the
Phnom Penh work. There are 11,600+ villages without Christian presence in
this land known as The Killing Fields. May we continue to make our
partnership stronger for God's mission work in Cambodia!"
On June 24th Grace Berean Church in Kempton Park- South Africa hosted a joint worship celebration. Dean Padayhag writes, “Some members from nearby Grace Churches of Tshepisong and Soshanguve came to take part in the blessed assembly. In spite of extremely cold weather, around 130 brethren armed with jackets, blankets and Bibles came to worship with us. Friendship, Faithfulness, Fruitfulness and Freedom were the topics of the messages. Other pastors also ministered to the congregation through life testimonies and songs. Sheba’s 34th birthday celebration added grace to the already momentous event. The next joint worship will be in Soshanguve on September. Joint Worship happens every three months and is designed to keep the fire burning among our Grace churches.”

TCM-Kenya Director Titus Kivilu writes about an area of Kenya untouched by TCM, "God is opening a door of opportunity to preach the grace gospel to the northern people of Kenya. I have met a friend in Thika who comes from Melile in northern Kenya. He has invited me to go and share the gospel to the people in that area. I met this man while looking for a house in Thika and we have became close friends. He has told me that there are very few churches in his place and wants our church to go there. Next month he will talk to the people and make arrangements when we can go there. Pray that God may use this man to open a door to reach these people with the gospel."
Vernon Anderson's earthly life began in North Dakota on February 15, 1928 and ended on May 20, 2012 in Indiana. In the intervening 84 years, Vernon circumvented the globe many times preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and teaching the Grace message. On May 24 at 3pm a memorial service was held in Grace Church in Indianapolis. Because Vernon had invested his life in people, it was people who told his story, and it is people who will carry on his legacy. Many gave testimonies of the spiritual impact Vernon had on their lives. Vernon was uniquely talented as a pioneer missionary, and thousands of lives were changed because of meeting with him. Others sent email while some were able to listen to the PalTalk broadcast. TCM Director Ben Anderson (Vernon’s son) closed with a challenge from Vernon's favorite chapter 1 Corinthians 13. Vernon lived a life of faith, hope and love—and those characteristics continue to guide TCM. We miss Vernon, but know that he is rejoicing with the Lord. Gifts in remembrance of Vernon may be given to the Vernon Anderson Mission Outreach fund at TCM.
Things to Come Mission would like to introduce missionary candidates Pat and Michelle Kilgo and their four children: Robert (13), Elisabeth (11), David (8), and Anna (6). The Kilgos have been active in the ministry in Atlanta, Georgia leading a Grace Church in their home. On June 1st they will move to Wisconsin to attend Berean Bible Institute for one year of Bible and Mission Training before leaving for Southeast Asia. After searching for a rental house in Wisconsin for many months, the Lord miraculously provided a 5-bedroom home within walking distance of Berean Bible Institute and their kids’ schools. Michelle writes, “In fact, the Landlord believes that God ‘orchestrated’ it so that we would be the ones to rent it. Now we realize that those other houses were not the right ones for us. We give God the praise and the glory!”
TCM's founding missionary Vernon Anderson departed his earthly tent to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday morning at 7:15. On December 26, 2011 he had suffered a stroke at home and spent nine days in the hospital. He never recovered his speech and gradually became weaker. Vernon was a gifted pioneer missionary with an ability to make friends, teach the Bible in an understandable way and establish churches within a short time. The hundreds of Grace churches in the Philippines and Indonesia consider Vernon Anderson their father in the faith. Vernon's sacrificial life so that others could hear the gospel set an example for others to follow. Vernon was 84 years old. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 24 at 3pm at Grace Church, 2200 English Ave., Indianapolis. Gifts may be sent to TCM for the Vernon Anderson Mission Outreach Fund. The Memorial Service for Vernon Anderson will be broadcast live at 3PM Eastern Daylight Time Thursday May 24 in the US. To listen you will need to download PalTalk at www.paltalk.com. Install the program, set up a username and search for the chat room “IndyGraceChurch” Click here for a time zone converter to find out the time of the service in your location.
Director Ben Anderson and his wife, Joyce will be returning home early from their Southeast Asia journey. They are expected to fly out from Phnom Pehn, Cambodia and arrive on Sunday. Ben writes, “My father Vernon Anderson is now under hospice care at home. He will probably be with our Lord in one or two days. My three sisters will all be there tomorrow. Joyce and I have decided to cancel the remaining 9 days of our SEA ministry journey and return to Indianapolis. Please pray for our family as we remember the long and faithful life of my father. Thank you also to all who have made our 2012 SEA journey such a blessing.”
Nearly 80 Grace believers met on the tropical island of Bali for four days of fellowship, worship, country reports, testimonies, special music, group prayer, sightseeing, mission planning, idea-packed seminars and challenging messages. Visitors came from as far away as the United States, Kenya and United Arab Emirates to join missionaries and participants from eight Southeast Asian countries. Our Indonesian hosts led by Lexie & Laura Gerung did a fine job of organizing the venue and activities. One morning we joined with the 300-strong Indonesian national conference for the installation of their new board. During the final meeting, Director Ben Anderson spoke on the essentials of Strategy, Synergy and Service for reaching the remaining Southeast Asian countries for Christ. The attendees overwhelmingly approved the next conference to be held in Kuala Lumpur in May 2014.
The Coast Grace Youth Conference was held April 27-28th in Mombasa, Kenya with around 80 youth in attendance. The conference consisted of many speakers teaching Philippians 2:12-18 with the theme “Holding Forth the Word of Life”. The youth presented special songs, memory verses, poems, skits and participated in an open air evangelistic preaching and film showing. Towards the end of the conference, the youth elected 11 regional leaders who will be planning and organizing future youth activities in the region. Pastor Peter writes, “Let’s pray for our young people that they will be effective and become instruments of spreading the grace message and remain united in the faith!”

Missionary to Brazil, Vicki LeFeber, has been in the States waiting for an interview and to take a test for citizenship. Her test was scheduled on April 16th in Detroit, MI. Yesterday Vicki wrote, “I am finally a Brazilian-American citizen, I received my citizenship 4 days ago! The Lord has blessed me abundantly. Thank you for your prayers, I will leave for Brazil tonight.” Remember Vicki in your prayers as she travels back to Brazil and joins her husband, Doug who stayed behind while she was in the States.
The 54th Annual Conference of the Philippine Grace Churches was held in the southern city of Davao on April 17-20. The 517 registered delegates and dozens of visitors enjoyed fellowship with Grace believers from every region of the Philippines. Attendees were challenged with the theme Generating Generosity for Growth in Mission. Director Ben Anderson gave the opening and closing challenges while Philippine leaders and pastors ably brought the theme to life. Director Gerson Bermejo reported that a Grace church exists in 100% of the Philippine regions, 80% of the provinces and 40% of the cities. A highlight of the conference was when 47 individuals were recognized as new pastors and Bible women, and eight men were ordained as ministers. A pastor from Manila commented, “That was the best TCM conference I've attended.”
The TCM-USA office experienced damage to shingles on the roof after a recent hailstorm passed through Indianapolis. The repairs were funded by insurance money designated to reshingle the entire roof. While removing the shingles, carpenters found many damaged areas and repaired them using 10 sheets of plywood. The new roof looks great and TCM is very thankful the Lord provided the funds to complete the project before any further damage was done. Completed Project.
TCM Philippines held their biennial National Grace Youth Organization (NGYO) Conference, April 4-8 organized by Pastor Cadelina, Director of the TCM Youth Department, NYGO officers and youth coordinators. 352 young people from TCM churches in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao attended the conference held at the Philippine Christian University Campus in Dasmarinas, Cavite. TCM-Philippines hosted its golden commencement anniversary of IGBI-Ozamiz, March 30-31. The school started in 1959 celebrated 50 years of graduating young men and women for the ministry. Pastor Pielago writes, “The celebration featured the Golden Banquet on the 30th and the Golden Baccalaureate and Commencement Exercises on the 31st. Over 300 attended the banquet and the attendance was almost doubled for the next day. 17 new graduates finished their four-year training at the school and jubilantly marched for graduation together with their parents, IGBI administration and faculty headed by Campus Director, Pastor Noli B. Ongos, and guests…The theme for the whole celebration was Faithful to the End.” Congratulations to all graduates and to the IGBI-Ozamiz Campus for this great achievement.
Pastor Titus Kivilu writes, “We are having a three-day witnessing ministry from Friday (today) to Sunday at Rabuor, a market on the outskirts of Kisumu. Five souls received Christ today in door-to-door witnessing. Praise be to the Lord. On Sunday a new Grace church (daughter church of Kisumu Grace Bible Church) will be opened in this market. Pray for the new converts and the new church.” Pastor Titus is completing his pastoral ministry in Kisumu in preparation to taking up his responsibilities as Director in Thika.
Gomer Indino reports that Timbo Grace Church in Santa Catarina, Brazil is well on the way to completing the second floor of their church. The first floor was completed three years ago and the members paid off the loan within ten months. Pastor Carlos Schmidt, who is the director of the southern Grace churches, lives in the area and is helping to oversee the construction. This building will be valuable not only for the local church, but also for Bible school and Bible conferences in the area.
Rob & Teresa (Autida) van der Zee—who live in Spain and use their website to proclaim God’s grace in Europe—announce, “Besides all our spiritual blessings in the heavenly places in Christ, God has blessed us here on earth with the birth of our son Paulus. The first name is the name of the apostle who preached to us the gospel of the grace of God and the second name is the name of the grandfather on father’s side.” May young Paulus one day proclaim the gospel of Christ in Europe just like Apostle Paul nearly 2000 years ago.
Vicki LeFeber is in the United States to finalize her citizenship. Vicki writes, “I have been here in the States for two months now. Doug calls on Skype, so we can communicate while I am here. I have been waiting for immigration to call me for the interview and test for the citizenship. I finally heard from them last week—my interview and test will be April 16th in Detroit. Then I am going home, but they will probably call me back this summer for the final ceremony. Please pray that everything will go OK.” Doug is pressing on with the ministry in Recife. His doctor recently told him he needs two hearing aids, which will cost $4000.
Gomer and Nene Indino report having a car accident on their way home from preaching at Carlos Schmidt’s church in Timbo, Brazil. Gomer writes, “It was dark, no cellphone signals to call for towing. Two tires had exploded…and we hit concrete about a foot high with a big impact that pushed the engine up almost on the hood. The damage is really extensive, don’t know when it will be fixed up, but praise the Lord, Nene and I are ok! Imagine how the Lord protected us and it was our 33rd wedding anniversary!” Remember Gomer and Nene in your prayers as they get their transportation needs figured out and paid for. 3/23: Gomer called by Skype to tell us that his car is now repaired at a cost of $1500 and he was able to drive it to visit a man he is mentoring for the ministry.
Rejoice with us as all funds have been raised to purchase a motorbike for a missionary couple in a closed Southeast Asian country. Motorbikes are an economical and effective means of transportation for this family. With the $1800 that was raised, this couple will be able to travel between home, language school, the market and their ministries more efficiently. Thank you to all who prayed for or gave towards this project. Continue to pray for this couple as they face strong spiritual opposition and darkness.
Praise the Lord with us for the start of construction at our Bible school property in Thika, Kenya, about 45 minutes northeast of Nairobi. Director Ben Anderson found this land in 2004 while a missionary in Kenya. Since then construction has been held up by plans and government permits. Gardner Improso is working with the Bible School committee to put up this initial building of eight rooms. These rooms will contain the school office, library, national church office, dorm rooms and classroom. $16,000 has already been raised of the total cost of $22,000. Pray that this school will provide quality theological education for ministers in Kenya and in countries to the north of Kenya.
Pastor Sagrado Improso is a pastor, board member, businessman and plantation manager in the Philippine Grace churches. His daughter Dr. Ruth Improso, former TCM missionary to Cambodia, explains, “Papa has multiple myeloma; it’s cancer affecting the blood cells and it’s very rare. It will affect the bones, the kidneys and other parts of the body . . . Papa has compression fracture on his lower back and is painful . . . He is given pain relievers, strong ones, but he still complains of pain . . . he has just vomited due to discomfort in his stomach. We will start with chemotherapy next week and please include in your prayers that he will not suffer the serious side effects of the chemotherapy. We have been here for one week in the hospital.” Anyone wishing to assist with the hospital expenses may do so through TCM. Update 3/12: Pastor Sagrado was discharged from the hospital after 2 weeks; but, after severe bouts of vomiting and weakness, he is back in the hospital. His medicines are now given through intravenous fluids and he is unable to drink water, only sips of milk. Please continue to remember Pastor Sagrado in your prayers.

Both the school principal and owner have offered the school hall for our church and a room to use for our office. The hall can accommodate 300-400 people. Please pray for more outreach in this new community.”
Praise the Lord that the Body of Christ has responded faithfully and sacrificially to the need for a vehicle to expand the active ministry on the coast of the Indian Ocean. The full amount has been donated and the vehicle will be purchased soon. Pastor Peter & Margaret Kagwi with missionary Luz Gaddi have been using public transport, which required many hours of walking and there was no way to carry equipment such as amplifier, speakers and projector. Pastor Peter writes, “We are targeting three new areas: Kilifi District in Chonyi (North Coast), Kwale District in Saburu (West Coast) along Mombasa-Nairobi highway and Ukunda (South Coast) where an active BGSM student has expressed his desire of planting a grace church.”

Holidays make for great opportunities to share the Gospel. Maraats and Killions used Valentine’s Day to share with Thai students and their friends. Genesis writes of the 19 students and friends who attended their celebration, “The night was celebrated with English games, special songs, and lots of laughter. I gave a short talk on the beginning of Valentine’s Day, emphasizing that “Love” is the most important thing in the world.” Nathan reports on the celebration at The Centre, “16 students came out for the evening and we enjoyed playing games, eating lasagna and strawberry cake, and sharing about the true love that comes from Jesus…We also gave our students “Love is…” bookmarks...I asked them how they felt about these words. Many of them said, “Oh, it makes me feel so good, Ajaan (teacher)!” We are trusting the Lord that the Gospel will be planted and take root in the lives of these precious students.”
On February 4, students from all of the Berean Grace School of Ministries training centers in Mombasa, Kenya joined together for a time of prayer and fellowship. Pastor Peter Kagwi writes, “It has become the tradition for the BGSM students to come together during closing and opening days after their break. This has helped them to know each other. They also have a chance of sharing their lives and ministry experiences.” Pastor Peter also announced the addition of evening classes for those who work during the day. Praise the Lord three students have already registered for evening classes.
Genesis Maraat reports, "Today [Feb. 4] was our ever first Christian Fellowship at Grace English Center. There were around 15 individuals including our landlords and two university students. Nathan shared a very good "Word of Encouragement" to all of us. Our landlords, this was the second time they heard about Jesus. One student commented that, that was her first time to hear the story about Jesus. Seed was sown to the hearts of men. May God cause it to grow and bear fruit in God's timing. A fellowship dinner followed after. Everyone enjoyed it."
Myra Omcitin reports, “My friend believes in Jesus Christ as her Savior! Last Monday, I talked to her about salvation again. I asked questions and I was pleased to hear her answers. She believes she is a sinner, there is heaven and hell, she needs salvation, and that Jesus can save her! Isn’t God working in [my friend’s] life?” Myra also has the opportunity to have Bible studies with various contacts she has made. “Last week I was able to teach the Bible to 4 students in our English class for 3 consecutive nights! [My friend,] Elsa handles the high school group in Baipai Village. She teaches the Knowing God series. The students will move to Phnom Penh next year to study in the university. They are already believers in Christ so please pray that they will grow in the Lord and will become strong Grace Believers.”
Ariel Mahilum, Team Cambodia leader, writes that Sorn Sruoch, a university
student who has been working with Team Cambodia while completing his law
degree, has accepted the call to serve the Lord as a pastor. He will serve
as the Intern Pastor of the Phnom Penh Grace Church for one year while
continuing to be trained by Ariel. Pastor Sruoch is the first Cambodian
pastor to rise up through TCM's ministry in Cambodia which began in 2007.
Let us be in prayer for Pastor Sruoch and Team Cambodia as they proclaim the
gospel of God's grace.
Judy Heath returned to Muskegon, Michigan to be with her father Charles Fielstra, Jr. during his final days on this earth. He had become quite weak when Judy arrived from Southeast Asia; however, she had a few days with him before he passed into the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ on January 23. Judy sees it as a miracle she made it home in time, especially when the Chicago airport was closed a day later. The funeral service will be at 4pm on Friday, January 27 at Calvary Bible Church in Norton Shores. Judy will visit friends and family for one month before rejoining Tim who is continuing their church development ministry in Southeast Asia.
